111: Troll Trouble

Chloe wasn’t sure where the black-feathered bird lady had gone. One moment she’d been right there, all serious and mysterious, and the next she was just… gone. Which was kinda annoying and a little rude. Still, Chloe figured there wasn’t much she could do about it, so she shrugged and went back to doing stuff.

Step one was getting out of this dungeon and finding her friends, plus ...

110: Path of Petals

Chloe went through the doorway with one hand resting on Mr. White’s neck, just in case the place decided to do something funny the moment they crossed the threshold. The door creaked softly behind them, and the sound echoed in a way that made the space feel bigger than it looked.

She paused, letting her eyes adjust, then leaned forward a little like she was inspecting a messy room...

109: Tricks

The fog gradually thinned out until Chloe could finally start seeing stuff again. She blinked and looked around, her grip on Mr. White easing as the ground beneath them became solid again.

They had emerged into a forest, but not just any forest. Everything around them was bright and super colorful.

Trees stretched high overhead with red and blue colored trunks, their lea...

Scheduling Change, New Story, & Other Updates - 18th December 2025

Hey everybody. I'll start this post by listing down the key points I want to discuss in depth. Here are the highlights:

  • Chloe the Zombie's posting schedule will be adjusted to 3x a week, updating every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This change will affect both the posting rate on both Royal Road and Patreon.

  • I will be releasing a new story sometime in Jan...

108: Fey

Long story short, after a surprisingly long conversation, Chloe was actually invited to the rabbit fey’s house. And yes, she had made absolutely sure he said the words “I invite you”, just to be extra, safe.

Because rules were rules, and Chloe wasn’t about to get cursed just for a little curiosity. Once she had that firmly locked in, she figured there was no harm in...

107: Important Rules

The group moved deeper into the Sanctum of Dawn together, walking through the glowing meadow in quiet awe. No matter how far they went, the light never changed. It was like the whole place was stuck in the morning and had no intention of moving on.

Chloe kicked at the grass as she walked, then looked around again. Glowing flowers dotted the hills, and tall stone pillars rose up randomly, ...

106: Sanctum of Dawn

Chloe drifted down slowly and landed just outside the circle, staring at all of them. Well. Not before cleaning herself up first.

She shook herself hard, sending flecks of brain goo flying off in every direction. Most of it came off. Probably. It was kinda hard to tell, but she figured shaking a lot counted as cleaning. Whatever was left was just… extra bits. Anyway, after that very nic...

105: Bird Brain

There was a sickening thwack as the shadowy spear struck home. The Thunder Bird let out an agonizing scream as it thrashed around. Its wings beat the ground and the air violently, sending up a massive cloud of dust and scattering all of Ynett’s ice spears everywhere.

“Don’t let it get back up!” Chloe yelled, flying down. The big ice chicken was clearly clos...

104: Thunderstruck

Ynett, who was still just floating there like she was bored out of her mind, finally moved. Her hands flicked upward, and a bunch of sharp ice shards exploded from her fingertips.

They whistled through the air and slammed into the Thunder Bird’s face. It screeched, but not in pain, more like, “Hey, stop that!”

The ice shards shattered against its glowing blue feathers, t...

103: Bird Watching

They left for the mountainside later that day, heading toward the place where Thunder Birds supposedly nested. Getting out of Aetherion was easy, since the guards barely looked at them thanks to Ynett’s disguise. The real trouble started once they reached the open road and had to figure out how to actually travel.

Chloe had called Mr. White back and was ready to hop onto his back when s...

102: Sponsorship Benefits

Getting to the Grand Archives wasn’t simple. They had to pass several guards, each one standing tall in gleaming armor. They blocked the way for most would-be visitors, but the moment they saw Ynett, the guards bowed, and the four of them were waved through without a single question.

Chloe tried not to stare too much, but it was both impressive and annoying how easily Ynett earned that ...

101: Uncertain Future

Chloe stood up as fast as she could. She pointed straight at Ynett, her arm trembling a little even though she tried very hard to look confident. Hearing that name again made her feel not very good.

A dozen questions rushed through her mind all at once. How was Ynett even alive? Why was she a bird lady now when she used to be a snake lady? How did she get inside Aetherion? And why was she...

100: Keen Eye

Chloe, Sierra, and Raenof ended up hiding in Finch’s basement for an entire day because Finch kept saying it wasn’t safe yet. Apparently the inquisitors were very thorough, which was understandable because she had punched one of them pretty hard.

The basement itself wasn’t too bad. There were shelves full of jars and scrolls, and old wooden crates stacked in the corners. ...

Update: A Slight Retcon + New Story Teaser

Hey everybody! Those caught up on reading Chloe at the moment might have realized that Leftie has mysteriously vanished from the story as of the last few chapters. To correct this, I added some details to the start of chapter 97 to make it clear that Leftie is just being hidden inside Cloaky for now. I've edited the chapter directly, which you can see 2025-12-01 22:48:05 +0000 UTC View Post

99: Hiding

Chloe sprinted down the street, dragging Sierra behind her with one hand as the inquisitors chased after them. They way faster than Chloe would ever consider reasonable.

“Nope! Nope! Nope!” Chloe yelped, swerving around a stall full of fruit.

Sierra barely managed to follow her, and one of the inquisitors skidded straight into the stall, knocking baskets over and sen...

98: Inquisitive Minds

With Raenof saying they should explore the city, Chloe felt it was the perfect time to look around properly. There was no way she could ignore a whole new place full of shiny buildings and interesting things.

Sierra still looked nervous, but Chloe stayed close to her. She wasn’t going to let anyone mess with the wolf girl, not when bird people could be jerks.

Raenof suggeste...

97: The Holy City

After some talking, Chloe, Raenof, and Sierra settled on a plan. Mr. White would carry them all the way to the forest outside the Holy City, and that was where he would stay and wait. From there, the three of them would continue on foot.

They also agreed that Leftie definitely couldn’t be seen. Detachable hands weren’t exactly “normal,” and Chloe didn’t want anyone screaming. So...

96: Fabulous

Chloe wasted no time catching Raenof up on everything that had happened since they last saw each other. She told Raenof all about Sabine and how cool and scary she was. Then she explained how she somehow got invited to join Sol, though she still wasn’t really sure what they wanted with her.

After that came the whole story about meeting Sierra, and how Morikhan turned out to be sur...

95: Unsurprised Elf

Chloe felt so happy she thought her chest might actually burst. Mr. White was back.

He might have been a skeleton now, but at least he was a cool skeleton. She couldn’t stop touching him. Her hands moved all over his bony body, patting his ribs, tapping his legs, and poking the glowing flames just to see if they reacted, and the best part was how they didn’t burn her at all. &nbs...

94: Mr. White

Chloe felt pretty pleased with herself as she walked out of the dungeon. She may or may not have gotten lost a few times on the way out, but since she was a very smart zombie, she eventually found the exit. And it probably didn’t even take that long, really. Time was weird underground anyway.

She held the black Gem of Wighthood up to the light for a moment, admiring how epic and shiny i...

93: The Best Reward

Chloe was not normally the strategizing type, but even she knew she had to go big for this one. She was a smart zombie after all, probably the smartest zombie in the whole world, which obviously meant she was good at planning too.

92: Three Headed Menace

For reasons Chloe still didn’t fully understand, she was now riding on top of Morikhan. Yes, riding him. It felt absolutely unreal. Everything looked super high from up here, and she kept gripping his thick fur just to make sure she wouldn’t slide off.

Part of her felt weirdly emotional, though. Riding him reminded her a little bit of Mr. White, and that memory tugged at her chest. View Post

90: The Trials of Chloe - III

The temperature dropped fast. Cold air slithered across the arena floor, biting at Chloe’s legs and swirling the dust into lazy little spirals. Honestly, she wasn’t surprised. Ice magic was kind of Ynett’s whole thing.

She’d faced the witch before. And if there was one thing she remembered about fighting Ynett, it was the illusions. So many illusions.

She crouched low ...
