It has been a day that reminded me just how easily things can get out of control. 

Today was also the day I made a decision. I decided I will not let recent events take the best of me.

Exploring Aruba's Hidden Spots

Aruba is a tiny and very popular island. That makes it extremely difficult to find a quiet spot to - well - let your hair down!

Yet, with our little dinghy Viva, we are able to get to those hard-to-reach places, far away from all the hustle and bustle.

It was still an adventure to get there since we had to battle against some strong winds.

We have sailed over 20K NM and crossed and ocean but I have never fish before and this is my first time trying to catch something. I'm sure doing something wrong. What is it?

Here it is mandatory to dock at the customs office, for clearance into the island. The office is located in a very difficult spot. Only 25 meters from the pontoon lies a shallow of only 1.5 meter and usually the winds are ...

Hey peeps, we are just 13 Miles away. To our port side we can see the lights of Venezuela 🇻🇪 and ahead the light house of the southern tip of Aruba 🇦🇼. We are not allowed to anchor before checking, so we have to slow down to 1.5 knots until morning.

Guys what a passage, from thunderstorms to no wind to 52 knots. Another 54 miles to go but no wind. We can hear the local radio of some Caribbean mix with Dutch music, so cute. 🥰💙🧡 sending lots of love. Xxx

Last sunset on the West Indies

Hey guys,

We will be leaving really early in the morning. The wind conditions will be extremely fair due to hurricane Phillipe passing further north.

By calculation, we should arrive within 4-5 days and the passage is just over 500NM.

As soon as we arrive we will let you know and we will also get the next episode rolling. 🙂

Our itinerary for the 27th

Hey guys we are getting ready to leave on the 27th to Aruba, we are gonna point up 150 NM away from the coast of Venezuela 🇻🇪 due to piracy, which is gonna put another extra 24 hours on the passage. Is just over 503 Nautical Miles, you might not see us on AIS as we are planning to turn it off for safety. We might turn it up for few mins from time to time if possible. Wish us luck 🧡�...

What will become of our sailing adventure now? Will we be able to sail on or prepare for a major repair of our sailboat at anchor? Whatever will be, we are not giving up boat life.

I am sending you this postcard from a small uninhabited island. 

There are no other boats anchored here and even though we found are some ruins near the beach, they have been abandoned a long long time ago. 

It is my favourite kind of anchorage - as I cannot imagine anything more relaxing than being surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature...  🥰⛵💙

Moment of the Truth!

Hey guys,

We spent another few days with our heads buried in the engine, hoping to finally emerge with some good news.

It's been 3 weeks of getting up in the morning and taking the engine apart, going non-stop till 2-3am just trying to figure things out. 🤯🤯 Going to bed with more worries and more confused.

By now there aren't really any more reasons left why it keep...

Why does everything on a sailboat have to be so complicated? I guess that's just part of this lifestyle. The Sailing is easy, but the rest that comes with boat life is the most difficult part of all. 

Cooling off in a tidal pool 😋

It's been a super busy week and most of it was spent with my head in the engine room. 🥵

So relaxing in this small, shallow tidal pool on a deserted island before sunset was just the perfect way to cool off! 🤗

I gotta say though, getting to this spot wasn't all too easy since the Atlantic swells reach around the small isle and there was no beach to land the dinghy. 🌊
