Sacrifice.

The choice is made.  There will be a stream on Feb 4th to kick off a short themed to 'sacrifice'.  Same pattern; less than 20 hours of animating to get the point across so as not to take away too much from MC11.  Should take 3-4 streams.

Another short at the next milestone...

Mc11 marches along, Thankfully the way my life is arranged things move faster. When I reach the next milestone (say, the neighborhood of 8000 frames of animation) I will take some time to stream the creation of another short cartoon.

2018 is going to have numerous releases

1 big cartoon is ridiculous. I've resolved to see about banging out short cartoons along the way because letting ideas die in sketchbooks is a crime and I'm no crime-inal.  I'll be streaming work on these short cartoons when I can, right there on the MDKrinkels youtube channel.

6000 frames

what ARE frames, even? What's the measure of progress in a cartoon like this?  I could pad out hundreds, even thousands of frames of drawn out dialog, and I probably should at some point, but right now it's just a chain of violence.

I can't even count the number of rewrites I've gone through as I stitched frames together moving forward, but hopefully where I land will be decent.  ...

The lack of simplicity in some of these scenes is killing me, and giving me perspective on what is important.  Namely, the killing.  A bunch of fun nonsense is a great way to put a fun slant on the ongoing mayhem, but at the end of the day it's all about the volume of violence. I appreciate your patience with me as I move forward on this, here's some of the damage going on.

I've reached 5250 frames of animation on this.  I'm a little surprised at the pace I am keeping up but stacking up bodies like boards comes naturally in Flash.  Some unconventional backgrounds are going to slow me down in the future but I'm always moving in a part time manner.  I appreciate your patience, this will hopefully be a lot of fun.

Here look, an image of an agent being shot in the face.  There's a lot of that going on here in MC11, as it turns out.  A lot of people being shot, a lot of weird things going on really, but mostly just shooting and violence.  Progress is slow, still, but some times it moves faster, and considering the density, 4850 frames ain't terrible right yet.

Madness Combat 1 is fifteen years old today.

What a way we've come with this, eh?  Granted, the animations have ground to a halt with a transition into game development.  But it's good that I've been moving again on that as of this year.  MC11 moves along at a slow and grueling, but steady pace.

I'm clipping along faster and faster.  While it's not the full gallop I'd like (and won't be, so long as M:PN2 remains my primary focus) the amount of time I am devoting to this cartoon is squeezing into the many chronological nooks and crannies of my day.

Progress is good.

I don't even know why I try to 'write' madness combat episodes when I am not animating them.  I find that no matter how much I think up plot points and write them down, I wind up deviating wildly when I am in flash.  I suppose they give me a 'launching point' from which to work off of, some junk ideas just floating around in my head that can be smushed together like clay or outright bash...

Does FBF add enough to a cartoon?

what are the diminishing returns on hand drawn flames/electricity/ect?  I ask because during mc11, there will potentially be a LOT of this, and I am starting to look at ways to cut corners to prevent me from working on it forever.  I hate that I can't do this full time, I am only one man.  Just a thought for tonight as I animate hank getting beat up.
