So we let the jackals Hangout with us in the garage and we forgot to put the lid on the pine pellets bin.
Pine pellets are what we use in their litterbox.
I caught him doing this mid-stream and I hesitated to stop him. Because technically he IS going in the substrate he was trained to go in. But there goes a bin of clean pine pellets ðŸ¤

Remember that cute Akita/Shepherd we took in last year? He just turned 1 about a month ago!
He is still probably my favorite dog I've ever cared for. Which is why I fell in love so fast and had decided to keep him around as a permanent resident.
Well, I wasn't the only one to fall in love with him. A lot of us did! Especially our weekly volunteer Peter! He has been a committed vol...

I started this painting months ago, finishing it was daunting. But I promised myself I'd finish it by the anniversary of his passing. Ethan built the fox box. His ashes are in a nice little box tucked in there.
I still have some finishing touches but I'm satisfied how nearly complete it is.

Knowing Waverly only has a few weeks left with us we made sure to unite her back with Kipper. Waverly raised Kipper from a pup and he is like a son to her.
We did a lot of shuffling foxes around to make the last of her days the best. She's living in the pond yard with Kipper her son, and Forest her boyfriend.
Knowing it's going to be her last Christmas I made sure to give her a ...

Elsa passed away from a intestinal blockage. She received surgery and died two days later.
I feel terrible.
This past month is the first time we've experienced having to take foxes in for surgery due to a blockage. 100's of foxes have gone through this rescue and somehow we get two foxes in the same month with a blockage.
One of our foxes Penguin pulled through after blocka...

Will I do it again? The way I'm feeling right now, Probably not, it's been a lot.
Maybe like 10 years in the future if I'm more financially equipped and this doesn't emotionally destroy me 😂ðŸ˜

He is still hospitalized at UF, but he has been remaining stable this entire time! I’m so incredibly thankful I got him there in time and for the truly amazing staff at UF! He went septic due to the perforation and the antibiotics initially were not working due to extremely low protein levels. An emergency blood transfusion was highly recommended to save him, so I brought them three potential...

Penguin is currently in critical care at UF animal hospital. I brought him there yesterday and I’m so thankful I did because they ended up doing emergency surgery on him last night. He had a foreign body blockage in his intestines along with a perforation within the GI tract. He was given a fifty/fifty chance of success, but he miraculously made it through his surgery. However, his chances ar...

Last week we introduced you all to Diego and posted some photos. Seems everyone likes him and wants to see more of him, so here's him and me playing!
Please note that his bites are incredibly gentle and he is just playing. Though it may look like a vicious assault on my hand 😅

Those of you who saw our video on him know that it was completely unexpected for this coyote to come into our care last week.
Upon his arrival we immediately reached out to connections for finding him a more permanent suitable placement. For now he is with a friend of ours who is a wildlife rehabber and has a large yard to keep him in.
In the meantime we have some leads for him to g...

I wrote this a couple weeks ago. I feel that it is important to share some of the real stuff. The 'not so fun' stuff.
It's 'October Crazies'. If you have foxes you are familiar with this term. The foxes get insane this time of year. They are all food possessive and instincts tell them they need to bulk up to survive the winter.
I haven't been sleeping well this week. We have three an...

Diego is a 3 year old Pine Martin who was surrendered to us last week and is already the talk of the rescue! He is incredibly sweet with no understanding of personal space. His favorite activities include pickpocketing, playing, and climbing (generally climbing on people).
Diego will be living at our Minnesota location for the time being.

I'm so excited to introduce you all to Yotes the coyote! He is a sweet, lovable, playful goofball.
He is about one or two years old now and we are working on a permanent situation for him whether that be at another rescue or if we make one for him. Temporarily he is going to be staying with a rehabber friend of ours until we find him the perfect situation.
I hope you all love him ...

Luna cat had a full mouth extraction to help with her stomatitis. They did leave about six health...

It's getting very cold in MN very quickly, and as Jackals are native to Africa, they do not handle the cold very well. So, we got them a fancy extra large plug in heating pad so they can have a nice and toasty spot when it's colder out.
They wouldn't even let me set it up before they ripped the cover off it and tried to run away with the pad itself....
More attempts may be made in...

Foxes are incredibly curious creatures. If they like the smell of your hat, they will try and steal it. The same applies for all articles of clothing including those you would not like to give up.
