Everywhere in D&D has dogs, and these are the dogs of the abyss. They've got heads that split sideways and can put your whole head into their head. They are good boys.

I'm breaking my usual post schedule because I'm really excited about these sumbitches and I can't sit on them for two months while I wait to clear my post queue. Here's 24 giant variants with art, lore, tactics, and social encounters. 24!

Damn I've got more of these lame no-art posts in the tank than I thought. This is a pretty fun monster though. It's a walking mouth like a Xorn, but its mouth is connected straight to the void at the heart of the abyss, because in a very real way these guys are just feeding organs of the abyss itself.

The ephemeral hangman is a aberrant tentacle monster version of the shadow. The accretor is a variant with gravity powers.

More queue clearing. The good stuff is coming, I promise, but here we've got something truly stupid. In the bygone days of AD&D, some wizard said "hey what if I breed these jaguars with salamanders?" and moat cats were born. I have a powerful soft spot for stupid monsters, though, so here we are.

Patron naverag has converted Conflux Creatures 1.6 into a .json file that can be imported into 5etools for those of you who have been craving a digital toolset to work with.
To use the file, you go to Utilities-Homebrew Manager on 5eTools, then Load From File. From there you can access everything under References-Bestiary (Use the filters to drop any sources you don't want to use). ...

All right, throwback post to clear the queue, we've got some Bone Knights here. Bone knights are a kind of martial necromantic champion that fight alongside undead but (usually) aren't the necromancers raising them. They make good minions for necromancers, though, if you want Death Knight vibes but not Death Knight CR.

I've still got a few of the old format that I'm going to be sprinkling through this month, but this is going to be what posts look like from now on, with my snark mostly replaced with art and lore in the actual post. Also, I don't know why I haven't been doing it yet, but I'm gonna include homebrewery links too from here on out. Anyways, let me know what y'all think about the new look. I'm gonn...

869 monsters! Gradually climbing towards that thousand mark, though the rate's gonna be slowing down a bit because starting this month I'm gonna be taking weekends off posting. That said, this month we're also starting all the other fun stuff like lore, skill DCs, and tactics. Also, I actually updated the link landing page in time this month! That might be a first.

Polukranos is a celestial hydra in MTG lore that was killed, then broke his chains in the underworld to seek revenge. This version does that too, but I've accelerated the timetable a bit. Also, he tears off and eats his own heads

A dragon turtle is a sea monster, so I tried to make it feel properly sea-monstery. It is basically the ideal monster for a big ship-to-monster fight, so load those ships up with harpoon ballista and cannons and practice your fancy drop-anchor-ebrake-turns.
Edit: Just added another variant. July's master PDF is already finalized, but it should make it into August's if I don't forget.

So a neogi's bite makes you swell up and become immobile so it can lay eggs in you which then hatch and eat you from the inside. Thankfully the "You" in this story is usually just the oldest, smartest neogi around, who's totally mastered the art of mostly keeping it together while peeking between its fingers at the Far Realm. And that's how an Old Wise Master is born, little Timmy. Any other qu...

Neogi are nasty spider-eel aliens with pharyngeal jaws like a xenomorph that do some general psionic shenanigans. Their main thing, though, is body horror (like every other D&D monster, I guess). Their bite makes you swell up like Violet Beauregard so they can lay eggs in you which hatch into little gnawing spider-eel swarms.

D&D loves to blur the lines between oozes and undead, and one idea it keeps coming back to is the blood ooze; just a big chunk of nasty blood. All three of these have the same basic concept: They are blood, they hurt blood, they control blood. The bloodrot ooze makes you sweat, cry and vomit all your blood out until you're all dried up. The blood amniote does the same thing in an AoE, and i...

Some mimics get so big you can go inside them; hence the ship and house-hunter mimic. These fellas are what you want for your all-mimic dungeon. Also notable, these guys speak common and aren't necessarily evil, so you can have a sentient ship-buddy that might eat you if you forget to feed it.

Theoretically all mimics are the same kind of thing, but a mimic is a complex enough monster that you just can't fit all the things it can do into a single stat block, so I'm doing different ones depending on what sort of monster this mimic is pretending to be.
The drink mimic jams in your esophogus like hercules with the hydra. The object mimic is your classic mimic, with the twist that ...

I think the modern consensus is that Dracorex and Stygimoloch were just juvenile Pachycephalosauruses before its skull gets chonky enough to swallow all the spikes, but the names are too cool not to use.
These are those dinos with 9-inch thick skulls that are always head-butting each other in illustrations, but probably just had it for sexual display or at best bonking their heads into ot...

T-Rex can't be the only top-dog in the dino family. Joining him we've got therazinosaurus, one of the wildest looking dinos ever to exist. This thing had meter-long claws walkin around like Edward Scissorhands, and as far as we can tell they were primarily for fighting other big dinos. Even a tyrannosaur's gonna think twice about tangling with this ten thousand pound Voldo.

The sahuagin mawtouched is a fun two-headed wereshark I used in my campaign, basically equivalent to Iakhovas from Sea of Fallen Stars, The Sea Devil's Eye, and a couple of other older adventures.
Also, someone asked for a sharktopus, so here's a sharktopus.
Edit: Aw gee I did it again huh? Should be fixed now

In keeping with the ancap billionaire theme, the older steel dragons will temporarily free you from the conditions they impose on you, and in the process convince you that they're your friend. They've also got a fun ability to enhance your freedom with your own private magic prison.

Steel dragons are "anarchists" in that they oppose the hierarchy that gold dragons would like to impose, but they hoard land and capital so they really just oppose any hierarchy that doesn't put them at the top.
