SCAD

SCAD Day 1: I spent my first day at SCAD doing class visits, grabbing meals with professors, and giving a presentation in the evening! It was a jam packed day but I got the opportunity to talk to SO many students so it was super fulfilling.  Pictured below, having the students build "road maps" for themselves. SCAD  Day 2: I finally got to meet with the 12 mentees whose projects I'll be following for the next few months. (See the header image!) My favorite part of Day 2 was getting to meet with each of the students for about 10 to 20 minutes.

Q&A

Q: I’m not sure if this makes sense: but did you always know Jack and Bitty and the rest were made for the Check, Please world?
A: I don't really treat character and story and environment as different entities? Or maybe it's more like...there's a story and sometimes it wants different characters or different environments or different experiences from my life or different inspirations. The story just exists and grows and you feed it different things. So for me, it's less like I develop a character by themselves and then put them into an environment. It's like I have an idea or concept and everything builds together.
TL;DR - the idea for a story is like a question, and the characters, environment, and plot are the answer

Q: Bitty’s height: no longer #short; frame just had a fortuitous angle; or Suzanne was a bit hunched/Bitty was on tippy toes in the last update? Please and thank you x
A: I think Bitty remains his solid 5'6.5" and Suzanne is like 5'2" or 5'3". Despite the height difference. I sometimes just draw Bitty bigger. 

Q: How big is Samwell?
A: Samwell is probably half the size of Yale? So like 2500 undergrads, a substantial but not huge grad school pop? About 2000-7000 grad

Q: Does Samwell have a women's hockey team? And if so, are they anything like the men's team?
A: And Samwell does have a women's team! I haven't developed it, however.
