Added 2019-01-02 19:21:30 +0000 UTCHello Dear PATRONS! I hope 2019 has been treating you well. I’m excited for another year of comic making, live-streaming, traveling to conventions and bookstores, and drawing these very special hockey people.
Uh, so Check Please ends this year? Yes. 😩 But I’m going to be working on the comic well into the summer to get it ready for print. The comic might even keep updating into 2020??? I’m not sure yet. (Madison is a thing, but I’m not currently sure where it would fit in with my schedule.) After OMGCP, I’ll be tackling new comic projects and I’m actually not sure if they’ll be webcomics or traditional graphic novels. I don’t know a LOT of things right now. When I do have a better idea of what NEW projects I’ll be pursuing--patrons will be the first to know.
Speaking of patrons--what do you guys hope to see this year from this campaign? I launched this Patreon waaaay back in 2015, and a lot has changed since then. (Check Please being in bookstores being one of them.) I’m open to all ideas and feedback! Either send me a message via Patreon or leave a message below.
I’m currently 60% of the way through drawing finished Year Four lineart. This month, I’ll be finishing up the pencils and line art for comics 4.17 (Bitty avoiding his thesis), 4.18 (a news story?), and one goofy Ransom and Holster comic. I’ll also be at the American Library Association/Young Adult Library Services Association’s Youth Media Awards! This is because Check Please was nominated for a Morris Award, a prize which honors a book published by a first-time author. (I’M…STILL SHOCKED.)
I hope to get 4.10 (which is a bit of Whiskey follow up) posted before January turns to February! @_@. And yes--no streams from the 25th to 27th since I’ll be on the road.

Echoing what other people are saying here - I definitely miss checking the patreon blog for fun little sketches and dialogue snippets and things along those lines. It was such a great window into your creative process. And I'd love the opportunity to buy more merch: things like a Falcs t-shirt, an Annie's mug, prints of some of your extra drawings/sketches, prints of some Big Moment panels with the dialogue removed, like The Kiss or The Rain Hug.

I honestly love the sketches you post (and that one time we got the Doc for Day & Weekes anxiously waiting for those books now 😉) but I’m really mostly chomping at the bit for CP merch. I immediately jumped on the kickstarter for #Hockey but I’m still dying for a shirt (or a jersey), stickers, posters, those standees, anything really. I would be more than happy to support extra tiers or further kickstarters just to help you out and have more Check Please rep out there. Have a great 2019! 💜

(Both check please and other projects) I know keeping that blog up and active was very time consuming (that and tumblr is going up in flames very slowly), but maybe you could post things in here occasionally? Or maybe consider making another tier (same price) for both check please/other projects in case some don’t want to keep up dated on other projects you’re working on? (I mean I don’t know why they wouldn’t?? 😂) Anyway I’m super excited for Check, Please! this year and can’t wait to see what you do next! 😊
