Question about the KS! If I select make a pledge without reward, would I still be able to add Huddle 3 with the pledge manager after or do I need to select one of the reward tiers?

Same! I totally get the need for :01 promotion, and I actually am interested in learning more about their upcoming books. Like Be Prepared, which they tweeted about recently & I've had my eye on for a while. I like the idea of swapping out some of the follower goals for :01 hashtag promotion goals!

Also, if part of the motivation behind some of the social media etc goals is to make :01 happy, I, for one, would be more than happy to go after some (low) goals promoting their other stuff! I'm reading the Secret Coders series and have read some of the Science Comics and I'd be happy to tweet about them! I think they're way more likely to get a few hundred hashtagged tweets showing what other :01 books we're reading than 14K new IG followers, that's for sure.

I love the idea of having some achievements that benefit the whole fandom! I do think that the current social media goals are extremely unrealistic, even if we DO manage to engage the fans who can't afford to pledge. A combination of lowering those goals to something less pie-in-the-sky and adding achievements that will engage non-backers would do a lot to keep people from getting discouraged.

I just saw George’s update email on the stretch goals - while it’s AWESOME that we’re doing so well in some of the categories, and I know we’re all working super hard at these & will continue to spread the word, I think it’s unrealistic to say “there's a ton of easy achievements in that social media followers section just waiting to get checked off and turned into goodies.” The Social Media category covers 42 out of 77 possible points. That means that while the Kickstarter itself is smashing right along with its funding, we don’t have a chance of getting most of the stretch goals unless we can bring in thousands of new social media followers. We’re nowhere near the first goal for any of the Social Medias (except Ngozi’s twitter) - if I’m looking at the correct numbers, a lot of them require 1.5k-2k additional followers just to hit the first tier. To cross the final levels, we need to bring in 10,000-17,000 new followers. In 22 days. Honestly, unless someone here has a celebrity friend with zillions of followers up their sleeve, I don’t see how that’s doable. Is there any possibility of adjusting the numbers? If they started at lower levels and went up in more manageable increments - 250-500 instead of 2k-3k - it’d feel like we were making progress, and it’d give people more motivation to keep hammering away at all their methods of spreading the word. Right now, everyone I’ve talked to about it is (while obviously massively excited about the Kickstarter itself) already feeling pretty discouraged about the Social Media goals. I love the idea of exploring different ways of measuring success and giving people who don’t have money to spare an opportunity to support the Kickstarter. But I don’t see much motivation for them to do it when they’re not going to get something concrete in return. All those fantastic stretch goals go to those of us backing it. What if there were a couple more tiers added (in spots like 25 points & 50 points) that would directly benefit all the fans? Something that wouldn’t put too much extra obligation on your plate but would feel like exciting goals for people to work towards and chatter about online. Like…trading out one of our Patreon Sunday streams for a public sketch jam? Or making a public ask-a-wellie or ask-a-falc a perk (while obviously only agreeing to draw a small number of the prompts and keeping them as quicker B&W sketches). Or posting some sfw teasers from Huddle 3. We’re super motivated to do everything we can to get us to that Falcs patch, or pin, or even to the magical baby jack at the end, but it feels weird to have so much of the focus tied up in social media numbers that feel pretty unreachable. Maybe there could be more tiers added to the actual campaign category, which is rocking in typical Ngozi-style right now - higher-weighted points for the parts that’ll go towards funding the production of the perks, or more levels inserted for 2,000 backers, 4,000, etc…? I hope this doesn’t sound negative and I’m sorry it’s so long - I LOVE this Kickstarter and am so grateful to have been able to back it, even if we’re not able to hit a bunch of the stretch goals. I love you and this comic and want to do everything I can to make this Kickstarter yet another huge, massively deserved success. Well. Even more of a huge success than it already is! <3
