The Irregular At Magic High School Episode 8 Reaction!

BS magician is short for Born Specialized magician. Born-Specialized Magicians can also be called innate ability users or innate magic specialists. BS magicians are born with a specialization in a certain type of magic, they can use other magic, but they won't be as good as them as other magicians. The unique abilities of BS Magicians are practically impossible for others to imitate. Even if someone were to use the same magic as them, they wouldn't be able to replicate the same level of quality as the BS Magician. If properly matched with their specialty, they often outperform generic "omnipotent" Magicians. but are still often viewed by society at a lower standard because they are outperformed in general use of magic. Haruka’s (the teacher/counsellor/public safety agent) has an innate magic called “Perfect Concealment” which completely erases her presence and makes her imperceptible to others. Picking Tatsuya as an engineer isn't as obvious as it seems from the viewer perspective, he never told the student council that he does the finetuning for Miyuki's CADs, and while Mari knows he edited the CADs in from the Public Morals Committee neither of them have actually seen the extent of his skill yet. Using specialized CADs is a really common thing, e.g. every gun shaped CAD is a specialized CAD, so that alone doesn't denote any kind of engineering skills, if anything it denotes either that you specialize in a certain type of magic or, as in Tatsuya's case, that you suck too much at magic to properly wield a generalized CAD.

Magic Power standards are evaluated by the following -Interference Strength (Strength of their Magic Sequences for rewriting Eidos*) -Capacity/Scale of Magic Sequences (Magic Tolerance) -Processing Power of Magic (Speed of Magic Design and Eidos rewriting) Interference Strength is a sub-metric that is measured when assessing Magic Power. Interference strength dictates how strong the magic can interact and cause an effect in the Eidos (Information Body). Magic power refers to the output of the magic. *Eidos refer to the event where information associated with a target is temporarily overwritten. Since information is associated with events, any revisions to it will lead to the rewriting of an event associated with it. As the nature of phenomena is written in Psions, modifications to these will lead to real world events undergoing temporary modifications to their state as well. To put it into a very basic not entirely accurate description. If you think of the real world as a video game, the Eidos are data layer of the world. It would be like looking at the information that the game engine uses to render the world. Like the 3D mesh, texture data, collision information etc. That is a very, very basic way to describe it, and not entirely accurate, but enough to give a rough idea.
