It's kind of sad how the anime continues to cut Asuna out. She was actually supposed to wake up at the same time as Kirito, their first action upon starting to wake up being to reassure each other and Alice that everything is gonna be alright, and Alice was supposed to call out to both of them and be concerned for both of them. Maybe Alice showing clear concern for Asuna and not only being focused on Kritio would go to far against the anime's decision to exaggerate the harem bait.

There is Moon Cradle, which is 2 volumes worth showing the first years after the end of the "Otherworld war" and in Unital Ring we witness, among other things, Underworld after those 200 years have passed and through that learn of the impact those 200 years had on it, we don't ever actually get to see those 200 years. Unital Ring will likely get an anime adaptation, as it's basically printing money, but nothing official was announced yet, they will likely wait until Unital Ring is finished in the Light Novel, just as they did in the case of Alicization.

2023-10-23 15:43:21 +0000 UTCas others have said, sadly there was no choice but to delete all those memories. however, there is an arc called Unital Ring that covers the entirety of the 200 years spent in the underworld, and i may be mistaken but i do believe it's getting an anime adaptation at some point.

2023-10-20 01:32:41 +0000 UTCThey did bring up in the show several times that the fluctlight has a limited capacity, and Kirito when he awoken was well past what normally is considered safe (it took them awhile to even regain conciousness) so keeping those memories was sadly not really an option if he wanted to have any semblence of a normal life after that, its also why the original administrator kept sleeping for so long, her fluctlight was already at its limits.
