2023-09-10 17:48:24 +0000 UTCWell that the guard is incompetent is kind of to be expected, usually if there are prisoners those would be those like Alice that more or less accidentally broke the Taboo Index. For them getting up and trying to break out, directly defying the Axiom Church and Taboo Index, would be as big of a hurdle to overcome as it was for Eugeo to take action and save Tiese and Ronie from the two scumbags. They likely aren't just the first murderer's in recorded human history but also the first jail breakers. Also a little tidbit, Kirito actually learned the basics of how to use whips and how to fight against them from Linea-senpai, so, while certainly no replacement for his sword, a chain with a priority of 38 (which is actually pretty damn high for something as mundane as a chain) isn't bad as a weapon, well it wouldn't be if the opponent was a normal person. As for the roses, this was kind of just brushed over but in Underworld certain plants can be used as catalysts for Sacred Arts, like the ones that were in the swordcraft academies garden and shared their life with Kirito's flowers to save them. The four main flowers that produce the most resources are Anemones that bloom in the Spring, Marigolds in the Summer, Dahlias in Autumn and Cattleya in Winter. Roses produce far more resources than the main four, but are forbidden from being grown anywhere except for the Axiom Church. That's why Eugeo has never seen an actual Rose before and why they both were surprised to see that many of them.
