I agree that being told your life's work was a placebo would be pretty awful But that doesn't equal the priest being told that he's awful. An awful fate, yes, and an awful thing to hear, yes. But I wrote this thinking with the character of the priest being a good person and the demon seeing his decency. He was so good that she felt guilty about having taken from him something he cared about.

Thus, he's followed a false truth and is damned anyway. A terrible fate. Seriously an awful thing to say. Modern feminists believe men are inferior in almost every way. Men who accept that, are no longer men. An awful fate.
