Sunshine Love v0.0.1b Now Available!

Good morning/evening again to my loyal supporters.

Wherever you are in the world, we hope that you are safe and looking after yourself as best as you can, and as always, we really appreciate the support you have given us throughout the creation of our first two games.

Today we proudly present and release the first update for our third visual novel “Sunshine Love” (SL).

Google Drive: Windows/Linux - Mac - Android

MEGA: Windows/Linux - Mac - Android

About this update (SPOILER ALERT!!!)

My team and I have been developing and coming up with ideas for SL for quite a while now, and we do feel as though we have done everything we can to make this the best and certainly the biggest opening of the three games that we have developed so far.

At one point last year we were working on our three games at once! We’re a little relieved we won’t have that problem again, any time soon!

The beginning of this new visual novel will have a backstory with a lot more depth than what you would have seen in Melody (presuming you have played it).

Not every character that you have seen from our previews over the past couple of months will feature in this first release though.

One of the reasons for this is that we would like to give them all as much equal screen time as possible, and more than just a few short scenes for each.

This is another thing that we would like to do differently to what we have done with DMD and Melody previously.

You’ll be given plenty of information about a handful of characters during this first release, the objective of the game, and how to search for the several bonus images we’ve placed in the game, during your journey.

Much like our previous two VN’s, there will be some basic mini-games and some multi-options during character interactions, which will hinder or help your chances not only with potential love interests, but also achieving the end goal of the game.

This first release is pretty dialogue-heavy and is mainly about you getting to know some of the characters in the game.

There are still a number of things that we are working on to improve, but as always, we want to get your feedback on what you would like to see, what you think we could do better, and what we are doing right!

There’s several new features, the model and animation quality has improved, the menu setup is far more detailed than our previous games, and we have a cast of characters that we feel will be up there with the very best in the Adult VN/Game market.

So please, we are welcome to your ideas, as we want this game to be a fit with your own tastes and desires, as much it will be for ours.

As always, if you find any errors or bugs in the game, please list them in the comments section below and I’ll have them fixed by the next update.

One thing that we always strive for is to continually deliver a quality storyline to you all and to evolve with our animations, scene ideas, mini-games and the renders that many fans have given me wonderful compliments for already.

I have already received some incredible feedback on the previews that have been posted up over the past couple of months.

Being able to use and create Genesis 8 models (compared to Gen 3 models for the first two games) has already yielded some huge improvements and major differences.

Hopefully you’ll see that too after you’ve finished playing this first release.

Having Your Own Tablet

About halfway through the update, you will be given a tablet that will help you throughout the game.

You will find a special menu in the tablet with various features, such as a Replay Gallery, the Rewards Gallery, Character Information, Music Playlist, and the ability to call any of the girls in the game (not always possible).

You can also change the background on your tablet to something other than a plate full of doughnuts!!

Here’s an idea of what the tablet menu looks like:

Tablet Menu

Music

Character Info.

In this section, you can change the name of certain characters when you view their profiles.

So when the tablet pops up in the top right corner of your screen, check it out, and have a look around to familiarise yourself with this new feature.

Add these pictures here:

Hotel Menu

You will see a Hotel icon on the left side of your screen. This will contain the current star rating of the hotel, the set tasks you must complete to turn it into a one-star hotel, services you can provide your guests, the staff who work there and some history behind the hotel and the lighthouse.

When you reach each start level, the stars in the middle will light up. Your main objective is to turn the place into a five-star hotel by the end of the game.

The set tasks will change each time you move up a star level, so be sure to check the “Task List” each time you do this.

*NOTE: There will be more information for this in the next update.

Music Player feature and Sound Effects

Unlike with Melody (and still with DMD), our new game will have background music from the beginning of the game.

However, instead of the music changing after each scene as it does in Melody, we have included a “music jukebox”, with twenty-four different tracks for you to choose from and change while you are playing the game.

The music player icon is on the right-hand side of the screen and it looks like this:

Of course, if you would rather play your own music, then a mute button is available too ;)

In selected scenes, you will hear specific sound effects for things like when the phone rings, or a knock at the door, or when the ocean crashes against the shore. Check that your music volume setting isn’t significantly louder to the sound volume, otherwise, you may not be able to hear some of these effects!

Rewards Gallery

As mentioned during our Ashley and Victoria preview posts, we have included not one, but two galleries in our “Rewards” section.

They will both feature some special bonus renders, however, the full completed versions for both will only be available to those of you who are $10+ tier members.

The first gallery is what we have called the “Peeping Tom” Gallery. Near the beginning of the story, you will see a “newspaper headline” that will mention a Peeping Tom (a recognizable face to some of you) who has special X-ray vision powers that allow him to see through women's clothing.

He will appear on the left side of the screen during specific points in the game, which will help you to find and then view these 41 special “see-through” renders.

Simply click on his face, and you will see an alternate version of the render that is on screen at the time.

See below for an example:

However, you can also choose to disable this feature if you’d prefer not to see alternate renders of our female characters throughout the story.

To do that, all you need to do is select “Options” in the main menu, then “Extra Preferences”.

Where it says “Peeping Tom mode”, simply change this to “Disabled” and that will stop the “Peeping Tom” icon from coming up during the game.

The other special addition to this first version of Sunshine Love is the “Doughnut Gallery”.

There will be 60 bonus renders for you to locate and view in this update, plus some extra bonus renders (again for $10 tier members) that you will need to locate during scenes in the game.

You can view the Rewards menu by clicking here in the main menu:

If you need help in locating any of these “Doughnut Gallery” bonus renders, we recommend that you use the Special Rewards Gallery Walkthrough to make finding them much easier (if it is available to you).

For this first update, only four of the female characters will have extra bonus renders for you to view and search for.

The next update will feature other characters in this gallery.

And how will you locate all of these bonus renders you might ask? Simple!

We have set it up for you to search for the “hidden doughnuts” that will pop up on the screen throughout the update.

Clicking on them will unlock these special renders, and then they will be available for you to view them in the Rewards gallery!

And the best part is, once you’ve found them (or the Peeping Tom renders) then they will automatically be saved in the Rewards galleries.

In other words, you don’t need to find the same ones again, they will permanently stay in the gallery, even if you load a different save slot!

Here’s an example of a doughnut that is on the screen during the game:

See if you can find them all!! ;)

Animated Scenes (***SPOILERS***):

ROLLING WIPS (Ashley, Nicole, Victoria, Childhood friend, Shortcake, Trisha, Yuki)

SIDE-ROLLING WIP of Sunshine Bay

- Nicole and Victoria making out

- Nicole cowgirl (two angles)

- Victoria cowgirl (two angles)

- You and Nicole making out

- Nicole oral scenes (two angles)

- Nicole doggy scene (three angles)

- Childhood Friend hips gyrating

Final Words

This first release of Sunshine Love is a lot bigger than the usual updates of our other two games. It’s taken several months of planning, weeks of hard work and long hours just for us to get it as perfect as possible. It’s been a tiring process, but we’re really confident that it will all be worth it in the end.

However, not all of our SL releases will be as long as this one, mainly due to the short time-frame we normally allow ourselves between updates (4 weeks usually).

Plus the development of Sunshine Love is a lot more complex than it has been with Melody and DMD.

The one thing we don’t have to worry about with future updates is things like coming up with the plot, characters' designs, coding the galleries, the stats systems, and the music jukebox. These things took up a huge chunk of our time and it’s a huge relief knowing that we won’t have to do them again for any other update.

Normally we would work over a four-week period to get updates of either of our games out at least once a month. But after requiring an extra few days to work on this first version of Sunshine Love, we have seen just how much of a difference having more time to work on the game really makes.

So with that, we will be releasing our two games, five weeks apart from each other, and we will continue to aim for a Saturday release so you can play the new updates on a weekend rather than during the week. With this amended schedule, we will do our utmost to make sure you still get one update of either game at least once a month, even if we have to adjust the schedule a bit here and there.

Anyways, without further ado, we’ll let you get to playing the game. Please let us know what you think because as our loyal supporters, your opinions, comments and feedback mean a hell of a lot to us.

We make these games for you as much as ourselves, and we would sincerely love to continue creating them for as long as you want us to.

And with the way the world is at the present time, we especially hope that we can bring you some joy to all of you, with this, our brand new game.

All the best, stay safe, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy our third visual novel, “Sunshine Love”!

I'll chime in too. Great start. Liked the intro story, it's nice to get some background into how the characters came to be. I enjoyed the user interface too, such as having the tablet to keep track of things. I didn't really use the hotel task tracker or whatever it's called yet, but I realize that will probably come into play more as the story progresses. I enjoyed the references to points of interest and characters of other games. It's nice seeing those tie ins and hopefully we'll get to see some of the older characters make some guest appearances, not just the side ones.

AWB13

Okay, yes I didn't read that part properly. So basically he just wants the option to shut it off this option (the donuts) the same as you can with the Peeping Tom feature? We'll see what we can do. Thanks for the clarification Badger66. HearszAM

HearszAM

Hey HearszAM, I think you misunderstood what Bigjake893 was saying. He was not talking about the sounds that Doughnut and Peeping Tom modes make. He was wanting a way to turn off Doughnut mode entirely, just like you can with Peeping Tom mode. Not the sounds but the presence of the doughnuts themselves. He knows he will miss out on the extra pictures, if this were an option, but that way he can focus on the story rather than constantly looking for donuts in every image. If this is not an option, then all I can say to you Bigjake893 is to do what I have done. Play through the whole story ignoring the doughnuts so that you don't break the immersion. They are not usually as in your face as the Peeping Tom markers. Then when you are finished enjoying the story, you can always play through again looking for all of them if you so desire. That way you are able to enjoy the story the first time without the distractions. I know it's not ideal, but that is the only way I can see doing it with the game as it is.

Badger66

Hi Bigjake893, I take it you haven't seen MrDots' post on here yesterday? He has made some adjustments and fixed some problems in the first release and there is now a mute button for the donut and the peeping tom sounds. Muting either of these options will not affect the other sound effects in the game. The links to upload the game with these new options are in the post titled "Sunshine Love v0.0.1b". Have a great day, HearszAM.

HearszAM

Thanks

Hi, MrDots, I just want to tell you some personal considerations about this new game/visual novel. There are two things that I really didn't like: the "Peeping Tom Mode" and the "Hidden Doughnuts" feature. About the "Peeping Tom Mode": I've found it quite stupid (sorry, but I really think it is!); in fact, after I used it for the first time (just to see how it works) I immediately switched it off (and that's good you can do it!!). I liked more what you did for Melody, just a gallery pictures to enjoy outside the story. And that brings me to the other "problem". And this is worse than the previous one because you can't disable it!! Just because you know there are these "donuts" here and there, your mind (or at least, my mind) try to look for them in every image, and I've found it quite annoying, and, because of it, I couldn't follow the story the way I did with your previous games, because I continuously forced myself to concentrate on the story instead of looking for a donut!! I mean, it's like when you see a black spot on a white wall; you always try to look at it even if you don't want to!! I think this kind of feature works quite well in a sandbox game (different concept of game), but I'm not sure it does when it comes to a visual novel (or at least for me, it doesn't!). So, question: is it possible to add a button to switch it off like you've done for the "Peeping Tom Mode"? Sorry if I seemed harsh, but I really like your games/visual novels, and I really don't like these two new features. Sorry, again.

Bigjake893

old save probably wont work due to changes in the games text and renders due to update

Bruce

I downloaded the update and tried to load my save file. I get an error saying an exception has occurred. What do I do?

Matthew

I’m a Vargas man.

Jeff Steel

Some great points

Jeff Steel

We're looking at early-June, but we will confirm the release date early next month.

HearszAM

Now you've got me thinking that "The Boss" is modeled after Spurs chairman Daniel Levy. It might just be that he's a baldheaded douche combined with the Spurs/Arsenal references . . .

Ian Stewart

Brillante, like always. I love Gil Elvgreen too

Adolfo

When is the next update

Dante Espinoza

Maybe you can add a bright background to the textarea. I find it hard to read especially in front of the clothing from the old asian guy and Mr Gascoigne. An there ist a small "mr" (instead of a Mr) in the dialoge from Rosa at the first visit with ash and the daughter. Thanks so far, i like it!

Foley

It’s difficult for me to word my impressions after the first release, without sounding extremely harsh. Admittedly, I have only played up to the choice of whether to figure it out or leave, but the fact I felt “leave town” was the natural option, I think says something. I actually hoped that would take me to an end screen telling me I’m a moppet for making a choice that ends the game. Now, I realize what I wrote probably sounds very weird, but for me, it boils down to that I never cared for “childhood friend”, and therefore I thought MC’s decisions didn’t make sense. Throughout the backstory, we constantly see him being annoyed by CF, and he seems to be genuinely indifferent towards her. If anything, I’d say that he seems to think she is bothersome. Like “Why are you in my room? Why must you come in here? Why must you tell me about your stupid fish bowl? I couldn’t care less”. Then, for some reason, he kisses her when she leaves, as if he has loved her all this time. This is the first decision I feel was out of line. She leaves, and they do not hear from each other for 10 years. If you truly love someone, this wouldn’t matter of course, but when circumstances are as described, it doesn’t make sense that he seems extremely eager to talk to her and help her out, almost without hesitation. 10 years changes a person, so if they would meet up and finally enter a normal, healthy friendship, it would be fine. But he travels all across the country to help her, with the only concern being Nicole. That also seems quite rash and a large turn in character. And finally, when he finds out she has actively deceived him to get his favour, he STILL (even if I choose against it) decides to help her. Why? She has annoyed you, you have not talked to her for 10 years and now she has lied to you. That’s not a solid start for a relationship. And even though the circumstances are as they are, he thinks very positively of everyone, as if there are almost no issues. I feel a lot could have been gained if we saw some moments of them bonding during the time they grew up. Just a couple of times where they really had each other’s backs, and maybe also that they had sporadic contact over the last few years. That would have made me think that they are not best buddies, so it’s not a given choice to travel all that way for her, but they have always looked out for each other when it was required. Then he can have a little tantrum when she deceives him, but they sort it out. Maybe some other character tells him sharply that some things you must do even if you’re upset, and pleads for him to do the right thing. Their relationships grows and he realizes she has matured in to a very attractive woman and things evolve from there. I don’t know if what I’m saying makes sense. I tried to be as objective as I could, and give some constructive points towards the end. The game is no way bad, in fact, it’s probably pretty good, I just found myself to not be as immersed as in your previous games, largely due to CF and MC’s decisions. You are still fantastic developers and I have the utmost respect for you and your work. For me, this first release just wasn’t a home run, but I am still certain you will make this game a great success.

Koskesh

There will be an explanation for this Bruce in a future release. It's not bad storytelling when not everything has been explained yet ;)

HearszAM

Maybe keep the spoilers to a minimum, Bruce? If you have complaints, a message to the dev would be better than spoilers.

Jeff Sandau

It's hard to believe this is a game's initial release.. holy shit, have you guys knocked it out of the park yet again. Two cheers to you and your team. Thank you for not only delivering an outstanding product, but also for doing so on a regular basis. This is why you'll continue to see support from me, time and again. Thank you.

Al

you're forever blowing fixtures

Ian Stewart

He probably pled out to sexual assault - in DMD I think it was opined he would get less than a year. In California on a first time offense he would get 2 years, probably, and do 80-85% on that before released in good behavior. Either way (months or two years), SL starts several years after his initial incarceration, but he is probably still on parole. (He’s totally rehabilitated, though.)

Jeff Steel

Loved the Mourinho dig. It was (cue SpecialOne TV voice) fantastic.

Ian Stewart

Anyone having issues with the Android version? It seems when there's a sex scene you read the dialog but the screen is black.

Jamie Marinoff

seems far fetched lucas is out of prison after he went to jail for attempted rape in dmd bad story telling

Bruce

Love it so far, hate the cliffhanger you left this version on...

Jeff Sandau

Brilliant I loved it Your hard work shows the quality is excellent. In my opinion your place at the top of this genre continues .

Andrew Smith

westham ,i was blowing bubbles tiny bubbles in the air westham

Bruce

Damn non-American Football fans!

Jeff Steel

Just kidding. I tried to get in the Navy as a JAG, but at the time they were only letting in about 6 per year who were not prior Navy - they were farming their JAGs from within. No, I’m not bitter. Not at all.

Jeff Steel

To the tune of “A Hymn to Him Lyrics” Why can't a Sailor be more like a Airman? airmen are so honest, so thoroughly square; Eternally noble, historic'ly fair; Who, when you win, will always give your back a pat. Well, why can't a Sailor be like that? Why can't a Sailor be more like a Airman? Airmen are so decent, such regular chaps. Ready to help you through any mishaps. Ready to buck you up whenever you are glum. Why can't a Sailor be a chum?

Jeff Steel

Will do, but, to put it in the terms of professor Higgins from My Fair Lady (note I am prior active duty Air Force):

Jeff Steel

Yeah that would be me. Dots thought it would be funny to put that in there without telling me (bastard, haha), and didn't even tell me that the boss (Mr. Gascoigne) would have a Spurs mug. Did you like the subtle dig at Mourinho I put in there? ;)

HearszAM

Fantastic work, as always!

DaneJerrus

I love the game so far hate the way it ended gonna drive me crazy waiting to see what happens and btw when i played through at the airport sceen i had a random 1 show um in middle of dialogue and then when i talk to ashley mcs name randomly pop up in middle of dialogue

AceAssassinValley

Disregard, I downloaded the wrong version

Jerimy O'Mary

Just a note, on the android version, there is no animation. Other than that, great first release! The navy enlisted thing was already well covered, lol.

Jerimy O'Mary

So excited to play this! Downloading it now. As a huge fan of your other two games, I'm looking forward to enjoying this as much as the others.

Jeff Sandau

Also just saw the cunt boss has a Spuds mug, this is pure gold!

cremefraiche7

Is one of the Devs a Gooner? I had a chuckle when I saw the Arsenal FC mug in the breakfast scene. Love it!

cremefraiche7

Cheers Bruce, thanks for the feedback

HearszAM

U.S.Navy calls them sailors ,seaman is a rank e-3

Bruce

The dialogue will be easy to change. The outfits and any alterations may take a bit more time.

HearszAM

sailors are not junior officers they are enlisted men.and going ashore is called liberty so departure time is liberty call and normally the ship does not book rooms on shore the crew live on the ship and visit ports of call.am a navy man so just giving input that maybee youcould correct befornext update

Bruce

Hello Hearsz - I haven't got into the game much yet, but I was also taken aback by the junior ranks being called 'officers'. It might be difficult to address all the details Sural has identified (many of which seem to be US-specific, e.g. National Defense Ribbon), but a hopefully easy revision for next release could be changing 'officer' to 'sailor' (or US-preferred 'seaman') when referring to the junior ratings. Looking forward to all else, though ).

Hamish

Thanks for the feedback Sural. We'll see what we can do but the info you've given is certainly helpful, not to mention good education for us all. I don't see us having any other scenes like this one at the beginning so hopefully, we can fix the issues that you have listed. We'll see what we can do. Aside from this, did you enjoy the first version of SL?

HearszAM

First off...The Service Dress Blues and the Service Dress Whites...Would never be worn at the same time. They are seasonal uniforms. Pick one or the other. Also junior enlisted aren't referred to as Officers. They are usually Seamen. If you want to make them Petty Officers, there are lots of rating badges you can use as well. Also...Enlisted and Officers would NEVER frat on liberty. It's against the regs. Even senior enlisted wouldn't. There's total segregation with the ranks. OH...Almost forgot...I would have to go back and see how you guys worded it...but Liberty is usually assigned by Duty Section, not by ranks. I can't complain about the uniform for Lt. Gerald, because I have yet to see ANY good Naval Officer uniforms. Even if they had the British style. However...a standard black suit could be done. You could edit/create a texture to put the LT Stripes on (Lieutenant, or O-3..Same rank as your Captain in the Air Force) I think I saw some coveralls that would work for Navy Coveralls...We generally didn't wear our dress blues/whites unless we were on watch. They do have a Dungarees outfit for DAZ...It's called Universal Sailor and it's on Renderocity. Also usually for Liberty Ports...Junior Sailors would wear the dress uniform, but that's up to the Captain's discretion. If you want help (not asking for any compensation, so don't worry) I will be glad to offer it. I can't think of anything else right now, but if you want to look at the uniform modifications I made (never finished them tho) That uniform, if it's the same one I used for a personal project I made for myself, I can give a little help with modifying it. (The Service Dress Whites are ugly in that set, by the way. hehe I suggest sticking with the blues) I used a website to add ribbons, which is what we'd wear on the blues. If they are fresh boots, they'd at least have the National Defense Ribbon.

Sural Argonus

Please do as I’m Air Force and I’m sure we’ve stumbled around on this. Hopefully we didn’t screw up too much.

Jeff Steel

Mr Dots...I really love the work you and your team do. However, I just can't let this slide. I have only gotten a couple minutes in and I would like to talk to you about some things regarding the beginning with the sailors. I was in the US Navy, and I would like to give some feedback if you wouldn't mind. All constructive, I promise. :D

Sural Argonus

good luck with the game

Yoyinmi

Damm you MrDots!! ;) It's 10PM local time for me and my alarm goes off at 6:00 but thanks to you I won't be getting any sleep for a few hours to come and I will be wasted behind the wheel tomorrow.
