Random Shulk Sketch

Hey guys-- I'm working on some good stuff which I will be making available very soon! To prevent theft of my stuff, and to justify the money that you all very kindly spend on supporting my work, I may have to start adding a watermark to my work. What do you think?

Do it. I always trademark mine

I don't see the Random Hulk Sketch...

I agree with my fellow admirers : watermarking is not a guarantee and would spoil your art. A signature would be better.

To be fair, watermarking your creations is no guarantee to lessen the impact of illicit distribution of your work. It is fairly easy to crop away watermarks anyway, and it adds an unaesthetic tone to your work which may leave you look overly pretentious towards your followers, while in truth you only want to protect your work. I would suggest the signature because it achieves what you want while also keeping the art pure...so to speak. Incorporate that with the idea of un-signatured work on your 10$ tier lvl and you create incitament for tier 5$ to open up their pocketbooks without feeling cheated on their money as well.

I'd advise against anything like DA's watermark or anything since I feel it really spoils any piece it's on.All you can see is the mark sort of thing. But putting an artists signature on the piece could work.

Do whatever you need to do. I love your work, so I pay for it :)

You do need to start doing something to add some extra speed bumps to piracy.

I agree with Brian Thomas. People who pay for content are less likely to reshare it for the benefit of freeloaders. There are always exceptions though. If you adopt this plan, I would want the current high tier to remain watermark-free.

Interesting idea!

I don't know if this is workable, but might I suggest a higher tier for unwatermarked materials? My guess is the "Cheap Seats" are probably paying the smallest fees to gain access. If not, go full watermark.

Brian Thomas

a watermark is necessary because too many people do not consider your passion and your commitment, free works concept must be downsized because diminish your efforts.if we look at your works over the years we have seen considerable progress, of course it was all manual first, now photoshop and other programs to digitize your art , obviously those softwares and your time are not free, people must understand that there is hard work behind, and the work must be rewarded.

John

Sounds like a great idea to me. I have seen your past work reposted on DeviantArt from time to time.
