A few minutes passed and the shocks finally stopped. “Huff… Huff… I.. really hate… her…” Lucius sat up and looked up the stairs. “There’s definitely something wrong with her… Did she really have a baby named Lucy before me?”
Lucius stood up and brushed himself off. “Or am I just making that up, in a weird attempt to validate her craziness? I’ll have to get back into that box, I believe there were more papers in it.” Lucius walked into the kitchen and up to the dining room table.
He pulled a chair out and sat. “I guess I’ll have to wait for another opportunity to sneak in.” Lucius sighed, sat on the chair and waited until he heard his mother coming down the stairs. “Lucy, where are you?”
Lucius looked towards the living room. “I’m in the kitchen… Mommy.” “Oh, finally decided to be a good girl? I’m glad.” Lucius' mother walked into the kitchen. “Ah! I still can’t believe how cute you look wearing that.”
Lucius’ mother walked over to the table and kissed him on the forehead. Lucius turned bright red and put his hand over the spot she kissed. It was so strange, she never kissed him like that, in fact, they’d never really shown affection to each other.
So having her kiss him like that. It felt good and made him realize he’s always wanted her to love him, but why did it have to be like this, why didn’t she just love him? “Alright Lucy, it's time to get started cooking.”
“Okay, what are we cooking?” Lucius’ mother put her hand on her chin. “How about chicken curry? Grab the chicken from the fridge and I’ll get the cutting board.” Lucius nodded and walked over to the fridge. Inside the fridge was filled up with a ton of food.
It’s been a long time since he’s seen it like this. There was a whole drawer of uncooked meat. Lucius opened it and pulled out the large pack of chicken and walked over to his mother with it. “Here you go.” “Thanks, sweetheart.”
Lucius then watched as she opened it and pulled out four chicken breasts. “We’ll wrap the rest up when we're done for next time. These ones here, we’re going to tenderize them and cut them up into bite-sized pieces.”
Lucius’ mother opened a drawer and pulled out a small mallet with spikes on one side. “Here, go ahead and hit those chickens with this until they’re nice and flat. I'll heat up the pan.” Lucius’ mother handed him the mallet and he started to tenderize the chicken.
His mother walked over to a cabinet, pulled out a pot, and set it on the store. She then turned the heat to medium and poured a bit of oil inside it. “Alright… Mommy… Is this good?” Lucius’ mother looked over. “Yes sweetheart, that’s perfect.”
She came over and got up right behind Lucius and wrapped her arms around him. She grabbed a knife from the knife block. “Watch me closely, you take the knife and press the blade down into the chicken and run it along until you cut the shape you want.”
She then cut a small almost square shape out of the chicken. “Just like that, and you’ll do that until all of it is cut. Oh! Make sure not to point the knife at yourself or anyone else, as it’s really sharp.” Lucius was annoyed, he clearly knew that.
Lucius’ mother then placed the knife into his hand. “Alright time for you to try.” Lucius nodded and went to cut, but before his hand with the knife made it to the chicken, his mother had put her hand over his.
He looked up at her, his heart was beating a bit, but why? She smiled at him. “I’m just going to help you do it a few times so you can learn.” Lucius was bright red and nodded. Then he looked back at the cutting board with the chicken.
Both his hand and his mothers moved, they pressed into the chicken and cut a square just like she had done before. They continued to do this until they cut up the whole first chicken. “Great job sweetie, I think you got this, go ahead and finish up.”
She removed her hand and went back to the stove. Lucius looked down at her hand. He had so many emotions overwhelming him right now, most of which he’d never felt before, at least when it came to his mother.
He continued to cut up the chicken with his thoughts racing, and before he knew it, all of it was cut up. “Mommy, it’s all done.” She turned to look at him. “Great job, go ahead and wash your hands and do the same thing with an onion and some carrots. Oh, and use a clean cutting board and knife.”
Lucius nodded and went to wash his hands while his mother took all the chicken and put it in the pot. After that, he grabbed another cutting board, the onion, and carrots, and began to cut them up. Once they were cut, Lucius gave them to her mother who tossed them right into the pot.
Lucius stood by his mother watching her as the content of the pot sizzled in the oil. “Alright, now we need a bit of garlic. Mind grabbing it from the spices.” Lucius nodded and walked over to a rack that had a ton of spices. Everything was new and labeled, so it was easy to find.
She grabbed it and brought it over. “Here you go.” “Thank you.” She took it from Lucius and added a bit to the pot. “Now we need a couple of cups of water, do you think you can do that?” Lucius nodded. “Yeah, that should be easy.”
His mother added a few things into the pot as he went and grabbed a measuring cup and filled it. He walked back with it and handed it to his mother. She smiled, dumped it in, and then continued adding more things to the pot.
“Alright this is about done, all we need now is to make some rice to go with it.” “So.. We’ll need another pot and some white rice?” His mother smiled at him. “Yup, that’s right, you got this.” Lucius almost let out a smile but stopped himself.
He then grabbed the pot and filled it with water at the sink. Then he lugged it over to the stove and handed it to his mother, who placed it on a burner and turned the burner on so it would start to boil. Then it was off to the pantry to get some rice.
He grabbed the big bag and carried it over. “I’ll take that sweetie. The bag is full and heavy, and I don’t want you to get splashed by pouring it in.” Lucius avoided rolling his eyes and handed her the bag. “Thank you. Now go ahead and set the table for five people.”
Five people, so it seemed Lucius totally not crazy aunts he had never met before today would be joining them. He walked to the cabinets, grabbed five plates with curved edges, and placed them next to his mother.
He then walked back and grabbed five sets of spoons, forks, knives, and several cloth napkins. He walked over to the dining table and placed five sets of napkins, with one of each type of silverware on top.
Now one last time he walked back, grabbed five tall glasses, and walked them over to the table, setting one at each spot. “How's this?” Lucius’ mother looks over. “Looks good to me, the curry and rice are about done. I’ll start filling plates and you bring them over.”
Lucius nodded again and ran over to the stove, where his mother handed him a plate filled with curry. He took it and walked over to the table and placed it down, then went back to the stove. It was at that time the front door opened, and three very annoying women walked in.
“Hey everyone we are back!” Rin yelled from the door. Lauren was the first to walk into the kitchen. Lucius was on his way to place the second plate and stopped when she got in the way and looked at him.
“Oh wow, that looks amazing Lucy.” Lauren said as she messed up Lucius' hair by rubbing it. She then went to sit at the table, but before Lucius could continue walking Rin waltzed right in and got in his way.
“Oh hey kid, that smells amazing. I can’t wait to eat it.” She said nearly drooling, she also ran her fingers in his hair before running off to the table to join Lauren. Lucius looked out the doorway, waiting for Carey to make her way in.
She walked in. “Oh hey Lucy, did you and your mother have a good time cooking?” Lucius looked at her blankly. It wasn't bad, in fact, it was probably the best time they’d had in years if not his entire life. Of course, it would have been better if he wasn’t trapped in this device and in a dress.
“Uh… Yeah, it was fun... Moth... Mommy taught me to make curry.” Carey smiled. “That’s great, I can't wait to try it.” Carey then walked over to the table and joined the others. Lucius finally unimpeded walked the second plate over and placed it in front of Rin.
She then went back and got the third plate, but before he walked it back to the table his mother grabbed his arm. “Lucy.” Lucius looked at her. “Yes… Mommy?” “You’ve been a really good girl, I didn’t need to discipline you at all.” “Uh.. Yeah?”
She took the plate from Lucius and placed it on the counter next to them. She then pulled Lucius in close and hugged him. His heart once again started to beat like crazy. “I probably don’t say this enough, but I love you so much, Lucy.”
Lucius couldn’t remember the last time she hugged him, never mind said she loved him. This moment was so strange and unknown to him, but somehow he loved it, he missed it and he wanted it, even just for a moment. “I... I love you too…”
