Forever tied: Vellith the tiefling assassin (Com)

A commission for last_of_workers!

This is starting to be more trouble than I can manage. I thought as I followed the princess I was hired to kill. Every plan I’ve had so far to kill her has failed. This princess seemingly has massive amounts of luck, unlike me.

Before I ended up living in this world as a female halfling, I lived in another. In that life, I was an orphan who joined the military as soon as I was old enough. I spent nearly two decades there as a sniper before I was discharged for a bad kill.

After that, I kind of went off the grid and threw away my identity to become a contract killer, something that I was really good at, even in this life. Like most people in my career, I ended up getting killed and waking up in this world as a baby.

I was born into this world as a tiefling. My father was a human born from human parents and my mother was a Cambion and was born from a succubus and a human male. I absolutely hate knowing the fact I’m part succubus, and I hate some of the mild effects it has on me.

I won’t go into that though, unlike my grandmother I can control myself and ignore most of those feelings and cravings. I lived with my parents in the woods far outside my father's hometown until I was about eleven years old.

That’s when my father's village found out he was living in the woods with what they called his demon family and they attacked us. My father tried to convince them we were harmless but they tied him up while swearing to save his soul and attacked me and my mother.

My mother was no pushover and told me to run away while she fought them. Much after that is foggy. I remember finding a cave to hide in, then a villager finds me and hits me… Then he was on fire and the next thing I knew I was standing in the village as it burned to the ground.

Everyone was dead, and I suspect I was the one who did it. I tried to look for my family but even at our house, their bodies weren't there. I didn’t know at the time, I thought they had left to look for me, but they were most likely dead.

I ended up joining a mercenary group and practicing my newfound magic for the next eight years. I became well known for sneaking into enemy camps and killing everyone without a sound using all kinds of magic.

With that kind of reputation, clients everywhere started requesting me for jobs and I separated from my mercenary group in favor of short quick assassinations jobs. Then for the next three years, I killed person after person.

I made each one seem so much like an accident that no one knew it was murder. In my time in this world, I’ve learned most are friendly kind creatures and don’t harm people. Because of that I only assassinate humans and elves.

I’ve learned firsthand how cruel humans and elves can be. Humans want everything dead and elves tend to think they’re better than everyone, that’s the reason I kill them exclusively, it doesn't hurt that there are a lot more of them than anything else, there are plenty of them and they’re weak.

So that brings me to my current target, Princess Adelia. She is a popular princess from the kingdom of Tyert and she was quickly unlocking the magical properties of the plants in this world to create amazing elixirs and medicine.

Truly she’s only doing things to help people, but my client is someone from the church of Helios, and they’re unhappy with her. They said something about her doing demon work, but I’m pretty sure they don’t want to lose the money they make from using light magic to heal people.

If the princess succeeds in her work, elixirs capable of healing most wounds and diseases would be widely available and the church would likely die out since people haven't believed in the god Helios in hundreds of years since she was supposedly defeated.

Despite her potential good work, I’m an assassin and I need to work to get paid and feed myself. I don’t care about some pampered princess trying to save the elves and humans like this, especially knowing monsters like me will be excluded or killed off by healthy humans.

That being said, Killing her hasn’t been that easy. I created my own pack of whilg wolves, which are incredibly viscous wolves that were born in hell and part of the grand army of hell that invaded the world thousands of years ago.

Today most of them live far away from other creatures to do powerful runes created around the continents to keep them out, but they don’t stop powerful monsters like me from summoning them right inside.

Of course four of them were supposed to jump out and kill the princess and her knight, but only one made it, despite that I felt the magical energy I put into them, return to me so all four had been beaten somehow.

After that, I snuck into a tournament as a chief. I prepared a plate of cheese for the princess and enchanted it to instantly grow in size when it hit her throat. Some waiter with a hood on took the platter from me and was supposed to bring it to the princess,

I saw the waiter choking alone in some area, so it seemed they decided to sample it and ruined my plans. It’s been a while since then, and plan after plan of mine failed over and over again, worse than that, I’ve heard rumors of other assassins trying to kill her.

I guess more people have come to realize her potential threat to their society. My client was just able to see it before anyone else, of course, he’s not happy she’s not dead yet, and not only do I risk not getting paid now, but my reputation is crumbling.

Today she was walking through town and I was positive I had gotten the timing perfectly, but I still failed. I had enchanted a food stall so that when she walked by it, it would collapse on top of her and kill her.

I think the reason it failed was because of that damned knight. She suddenly started walking quicker, and the stall fell on the person behind them, who I’ll admit seemed to be getting really close to her. Later that night I tried another approach.

No magic this time, just simple timing and measuring. I found this cart carrying a ton of iron bars and I stole it and set it up on a hill that led right to a road the princess was walking. I was pulling the stop out of it, so it would start moving when I heard someone approaching me.

I ran away before I could be seen and watched the cart from afar. Some dumbass with white hair pushed against the cart trying to stop it, she was quite strong to slow it down so much but in the end, she didn’t stop it.

She did manage to give the princess enough time to get by, causing another of my plans to fail. I continue to follow them around waiting for my next chance to kill them. Morning comes and they head back into town.

I was planning to use an earthquake spell to split the ground open and send them plummeting to their death to get this all over with, but the knight and princess entered the town square and had a bunch of room around them, then I heard a noise.

A large knight with thick black armor and an even bigger matching claymore was attacking them. The knight was teasing him by dodging around without a weapon drawn, and the princess was cheering her on like it was some sport.

I watched from the crowd, and my heart started to beat in fear as I watched the knight in action. I mean, people call me a monster, but this woman was deftly not your avenger elven knight, she was a beast in elven skin.

The knight kept swinging his massive claymore, and one of them was straight down on her head, and she stopped it with one arm. Then she punched through the damn thing and shattered it like it was glass.

That wasn’t even the end of it, She grabbed a piece of the claymore and stabbed it through his leg through his armor. He fell to the ground unable to use his leg, but he didn’t stop his attack, and neither did the knight.

She grabbed another claymore shard and pierced his hand into the ground. She teased the knight for being so bad and the guards from the town came and arrested the black knight, and hearing him scream as they pulled the claymore shard out of his legs will probably haunt my nightmares.

There was no way I was going to continue with this job. It wasn’t worth it. I wasn’t about to get slaughtered by this monster just for a job. To hell with my reputation and this job, I’m too young to die, and I’m choosing to live.

With that being said, no one going to hire me knowing I bailed on such an important job, and the church will likely turn on me and tell everyone I’m an evil monster and need to be killed, I’ll likely get a bounty on my head, and be hunted for the rest of my life.

It seems now I require protection, and it seems the best protection in this land is that knight. If I offer my knowledge and services, they might accept me as a part of their squad, or they’ll arrest and kill me, but unlike most elves, I sense a pure light coming from the princess and her knight.

So maybe it’s worth trying. Hey princess! I yelled at the same time as someone next to me. Standing next to me was the woman with white hair and a hood, I’m pretty sure she’s a vampire. I don’t know why, but seeing her again made me happy, I almost felt connected to her, and like I’d known her forever. I wonder why?

Another wonderful story... Frankly speaking, it looks much more logical and harmonious than the previous one... this does not mean that the last part was bad, no, it was just wonderful, but this one.... Damn, I think I'm confused... But anyway thank you very much for this part I really liked it
