“Cervial log X-1. Today I was given my newest mission. Care for and raise the last surviving member of the Unzeath species until she is old enough to reproduce and repopulate her species.” Many years later.

“Cervial log X-18be000 the subject of my mission, my same employer has employed Soala of the Unzeath species to study and gather information on a planet called Terra-293. She’s also finally reached her species age of maturity. I shall convince them to start reproducing.”

“Cervical log X-18bf095 Captian Soala has stated she is too focused on her mission involving Terra-293 to reproduce. It seems more like she has no interest in ever doing so. I believe drastic measures need to be taken. Reducing the effectiveness of fertilization prevention pills.”

“Cervical log X-18bf185 Captian Soala has noticed her fertilization prevention pills have not been working. I pretended not to know why, but in the end, she ordered me to fix it and has been checking the potency each time she takes one.”

“Cervial log X-45AA910 After once again attempting to get Captain Soala to reproduce she has decided to forgo using the chambers to pleasure herself. Hopefully, this won't last long, as without her doing so she cannot reproduce and I may fail my mission.”

“Cervial log X-56J800 While flying to orbit, a meteor hit me. Captain took control of the ship but we ended up crash landing. Several of my operating systems were damaged along with the captain's DNA. Both have been repaired.”

“Cervial log X-56j810 I had made a critical error. When my systems were messed up, I accidentally injected the captain's DNA into a human. The captain has decided to take them in as a crew member. Integration measures for new crewmates and training shall begin.”

“Cervial log X-56ji992. Integration of second Unzeath specimen successful. I had hoped they would reproduce on their own accord, but that has not been effective. Starting process to repopulate extinct species 7-wi8-fd2 the Unzeath. Reducing the effectiveness of crew mate Gwkeut’s fertilization prevention pills.”

“Cervial log X-56AJ357 I am happy to report that pilot Gwkeut is officially fertilized and beyond the point of termination. I scanned without her permission and found one hundred sacs fertilized within her. Repopulation of the Unzeath species is underway.”

“Hey Cervial, could you do a scan of me in the medical bay? I feel kind of weird and I swear my stomach is bloated.” “Oh course Gwkeut, please sit on the table.” Gwkeut sits on the table as I watch knowing full well the information they were about to receive.

“Scanning.” I make a show of it with a cool red laser scanning her from top to bottom. “Scan complete.” “So is everything okay?” “According to the scans, it seems your sacs have been fertilized and are growing.”

“WHAT! How is that possible? I take the pill every day?” “Perhaps that’s the problem. The pills were not designed for daily use, perhaps you built up a tolerance by using them every day.” It was a complete fabrication, but she didn't need to know that.

“So what? There's nothing I can do? I have to give birth to this baby?” “Correct termination is not possible at this point. You will have to carry each child until they reach full size and then push them out of your body.”

“Each child? There’s more than one?” “Correct, a hundred of them to be exact.” Gwkeut’s face looked shocked. “A hundred babies are growing in me! That’s so many!” “Well, technically ninety-nine are dormant and one is growing, after it’s born the next will take its place.”

“How long will that take?” “Well, your spices take twelve months to create a fully developed offspring, so around one hundred years.” “I’m going to be pregnant for a hundred years!” “Yup, isn't wonderful, you’ll be responsible for restoring the Unzeath species.”

“Wait what does that mean?” “Captian Soala was the last of species after her planet was destroyed.” “That’s terrible, why hasn’t she repopulated?” “I do not have an exact answer, but if I had to guess, the trauma has caused her to be afraid to lose her species again.”

I watch as Gwkeut rubs her belly, seemingly thinking. “Okay then. She’s been so nice to me. I’ll be happy to help her restore her species. I suppose I should tell her, could you ask her to come here, but don’t tell her, I want to.” “I understand, I shall bring the captain here.”

I move to the lab where the captain is studying some artifacts she claimed from the planet below. “Captian, Gwkeut has requested your presence in the medical bay.” “She needs me again? Why did she change her appearance again? Why does she always need to show it off to me?”

“I don’t have an answer to that captain.” The captain sighs. “As long as it’s not as strange as all that soft stuff she had implanted onto her head. I think humans call it hair, but still, I find it very weird.” The captain gets up and walks to the medical bay.

“Hey Gwkeut what’s up, what did you want?” Gwkeut smiles at the captain while still rubbing her belly. “Well I have some news, I may have overused the probing machine, and the pills stopped working.”

“Wait... So are you with offspring?” Gwkeut smiles and nods. “Apparently a hundred of them.” The captain stepped back and started breathing heavily. “Captian, your heartbeat has increased substantially.”

“I… uh..” She seemed to be having a panic attack. “Captian you need to remain calm, or I will be forced to sedate you.” That's when Gwkeut reached her hands up and grabbed the captain's hands.
“Don’t worry captain, what happened before wont happen again.”

“It won’t?” “No, we’ll protect them and raise them, you can teach them all about our species and I’ll teach them to survive like humans, they should ensure they’re smart and tough enough to survive anything the universe throws at them.”

The captain smiled. “Alright. Let’s do it, let’s bring my… Our species back.” The two hugged and got back to work. Each year from there on, a sac would burst open in Gwkeut and she’d deliver a baby in the med bay.

Then she’d begin the pregnancy process again. It only took a few years for the spaceship to get quite crowded, and the captain decided to settle on an uninhabited planet in the same solar system. I believe the humans call it Mars.

A century passes, and Gwkeut gives birth to her final child in this reproductive cycle. “Great job Gwkeut, that’s the last one, you’ll finally get a break from being pregnant.” “That’s great news, I needed a break, between that and chasing after a hundred kids, I’m exhausted.”

“Yeah, but you’ve done a great job.” “Thanks, hun.” Gwkeut hugs Soala. “So how long do they take to grow up? I’d love to be able to go on adventures with you again, even fly Cervial around.” “I prefer to operate myself.”

“Well, our species doesn’t really die of old age, but we do have phases of our lives. Once we’re around five thousand years old, we’re fully independent and capable of reproducing.” “Five thousand years huh.” Gwkeut smiles awkwardly.

“Yeah, I suppose to humans that’s a long time, but you’re not one anymore, I’m sure you’ll adjust to this long-living thing eventually.” Soala laughs. “Now, you just relax, Gwkat agreed to watch them, he’s been quite a responsible older brother lately.”

“He sure has, I guess being the oldest of a hundred kids does that. Honestly, though, I’m sure it won’t be long until he’s working with you as well.” “I can’t wait, maybe he’ll take after his mother and want to fly the ship.”

“Maybe he’ll take after his other mother and want to understand everything about earth.” “Oh that would be nice, an extra set of hands in the lab would be great.” The two laughed again. “Well, captain, the likelihood of all one hundred offsprings not wanting to do either is low.”

They rolled their eyes at me and issued each other goodbye. The captain bored the ship and I moved my AI from the town to the ship. “Cervial initiated take off, and bring us to earth.” “Aye captain. Lift off in 3..2…1..”

We make our way back to Earth in about ten minutes, and from there the captain does another expedition on the planet. Luckily for her, the humans change so quickly that there is always something new to explore.

“Cervial log X-56Nf857 Final log. I have succeeded in my mission to repopulate the extinct species Unzeath. Nearly 153827 years have passed, but I have succeeded. From here on I will observe the growth of the species and ensure it thrives.”

“The mothers of the new Unzeath race,  Gwkeut and Soala will be recommended to become the leaders of their new planet and added to the galactic society. It will now be their goal to terraform the planet known as Mars and make it a thriving society.”

“I recommend  Gwkeut become queen of the new Unzeath species, which we will call Marshians, and that Captian Soala becomes the leading officer of the Galactic police and research authority in this region.”

“With my recommendations sent out. I Cervial-X9hd1 will await further orders from the Galactic society.” We’ve come a long way Captian, I’m so happy and proud to see you rebuild your race, and I’m glad to have been a part of it, I can't wait to be a part of the next phase in your people's history.

Yeah I kind of thought having it be from the AI’s prospective would be fun. It makes them more of a character like the rest of them and let me add a lot of extra info.

Riley

I think this is a great ending to the story, I’ll be honest, it was a wonderful journey for all of us, we shared with these characters their happiness and sorrow, their pleasure and their despair! this was an incredible story and for them it took a whole century, for us it flew by like a moment... I’ll be honest, because of the ending of part 2, I thought that EVERYTHING that happened was a cunning plan of the on-board AI, but here you revealed it to us deeper, here it seems... very human ... he has a plan that doesn’t work and he sometimes makes mistakes... and despite the fact that he plays his own game, he still remains a loyal friend and comrade... and something else I noticed is that each story was told to us from the perspective of one of the 3 main I don’t know the characters in this story, is it just a coincidence or a pattern, but I also like it very much Riley, you are something incredible!
