The costume party: Holy angel

A series commissioned by last_of_workers!

Class 2-C of Schasonic High School were all talking after class one day about what costumes they were planning to make and wear. That’s when Alek suggested they throw a costume party and host it at his house.

Everyone agreed and went home that day to work on their costumes. Each one of them was excited about the party and thought hard about what costume would be best for them to show up in.

Arseni wasn’t all that big on dressing up, but since it was a costume party he knew everyone else would be dressing up, so not wanting to be out of place he went to the store to see what costumes they had for sale.

They only had basic things, like ghosts, vampires, and demons. None of these interested Arseni, but as he was sifting through the rack of costumes he found an open one with no labels on it. He pulled it off the shelf and looked inside.

It turned out to be an angel costume, with a robe, wings, clip-on halo, and even white socks. It reminded him of his favorite dungeons and dragon characters he made. He was a small angel boy who got trapped on the planet the champagne was stuck on.

He wore all white, had the softest sounding voice, and was a master of holy magic due to coming from the literal heavens. This seemed to be the best costume for him, so after making sure it would fit, he bought it and put it on.

Everything seemed fine when he put it on for the part, but the robes seemed a bit weird, they were more open on the bottom than he was used to. He shrugged it off and went about enjoying the party with his friends.

After some time Nadya got everyone's attention. Nadya had on a nice Maleficent costume and was telling everyone she was a real witch. Several people were waiting around for her to do something, but Arseni wasn’t interested.

He walked upstairs and sat out on Alek’s upstairs balcony and hung his legs over the ledge. He wasn’t sure why, but he wasn’t feeling in the mood to be at the party. Maybe it was everyone’s nice costumes, or simply he felt like he was meant to be somewhere else.

He sat there staring up at the sky when suddenly he felt something pass through him. Suddenly everything felt weird and Arseni started hearing a ton of voices in her head. It didn’t hurt but was confusing due to how many of them there were.

It took her a few minutes, but she managed to silence them, she could still feel that they were there even if she couldn’t hear them. She was curious about what they were, so she tried her hardest to focus on just one of the voices.

That’s when she heard a woman’s voice. She was praying for her husband to get better from a terminal disease, but way was Arseni hearing it? She stood up on the ledge of the balcony and looked out.

It was so strange, not only could she hear the woman's voice, but she could feel her, and knew exactly where she was. Arseni kept feeling like she had to go to the woman, and without thinking about it, she took a step off the balcony.

Instead of falling to the ground though, she was floating in mid-air. She looked down, shocked that she wasn’t falling, she turned her head to see the little wings that came with her costume flapping, seemingly somehow allowing her to fly.

It was a bit confusing, but she didn’t have time to figure it out. The woman was still in the middle of her prayer, and Arseni had to go see her. So using her new wings, she soared through the sky, several towns away to a hospital.

Arseni was able to phase right through the wall of the hospital and enter the room with the woman and her husband. There Arseni saw her knelt by a bed, nearly in tears by a man who seemed to be completely unresponsive.

Arseni looked at the man and could tell he was close to fading away. Arseni knew she could do something, so she moved closer to the man and reached her hand out above him. Suddenly her hand started to light up.

The woman noticed the light and looked up from the bed to see Arseni. She had a look of disbelief on her face. The light vanished, seemingly finishing its job, and Arseni just watched the man, while the woman watched her.

After a minute the man started to make noises and open his eyes. The woman turned towards him as he sat up. She immediately started crying as she jumped up to hug him. The woman turned to thank Arseni, but she could no longer see her.

The man asked her what she was looking at and the woman started talking about a small angel girl that was there, and how she gave them a miracle. Hearing that Arseni looked down at herself, it seemed what she said was true.

She really was an angel now, and a small girl. Arseni wanted to know why, or even how this was possible, but other people were waiting for their prayers to be answered. So she got right to work helping them.

Before the night was over, Arseni helped nearly a thousand people. There seemed to always be more people praying, and to most people, it might seem tedious even pointless with how many there were, but Arseni didn’t feel that way.

Each person she helped made her feel good. On top of that, each new person who saw her as she created miracles, made her more powerful. It seemed her powers were fueled by people believing in her.

So every day Arseni would help people. Thanks to being an angel, she didn’t need to sleep, eat, or do anything else that would cause a human to need to stop, so she was able to travel the world with her miracles twenty-four-seven.

Due to being so busy, Arseni kind of completely forgot that she used to be human, and was a student. So she never returned to class when it started a week later, and she never even thought about turning back.

She was really happy to be helping people. She got to see so many different types of people and help them. Whether it was curing someone of disease, helping small villages grow crops so they could eat, or even just being something to believe in.

There didn’t seem to be any other angels in the world, at least none that were doing what she was doing, so it was all up to her. Eventually, days turn into years, years into decades, and decades into centuries.

Thanks to all her work, most major diseases were curable, and world hunger was solved, although some of that was thanks to a smart female scientist, Arseni did keep her from exploding once or twice while she was experimenting on these strange suits.

Even war and fighting weren’t all that common anymore. The world was at peace, and it was mostly because of her work over the last couple of hundred years. Arseni is even worshiped in a religion that was started because of all the people who believed in her.

Although nowadays, she doesn’t actually have as much work to do. Most people are happy and don’t need her help, but lucky they still pray to her to thank her for her work and ask her to continue to keep watch over them and protect the world. Which Arseni is always happy to do.

I really liked this as well. Wholesome stories are some of my favorites.

Could there be sweeter and more beautiful stories than this? (I, of course, know that yes, but at the moment this story is in the first place for me) after all, just one sincerely kind creature is capable of correcting the whole world; isn’t that wonderful?... And how sad it is that there are no angels in our world. . . I also really liked what’s next in the epilogue if it’s a reference to another story! This is simply wonderful! In general, I liked it.
