A commission for last_of_workers!
Recon expert P.D. also known as Parker David. He’s a twenty-eight-year-old who has an extremely rare gift. He was born with a heightened sense of hearing, one that gave him a superhuman-like ability to hear, so much so a dog's hearing seems deaf compared to him.
If it makes a sound he can hear it. Somehow he’s able to hear things like infrasounds and ultrasonic sounds, things that no human before him, and perhaps after him will ever be able to hear with advanced technology.
As you can imagine, things like dog whistles annoy the crap out of him, the same way a person with a normal sense of hearing would feel if someone was screaming into their ear while standing right next to them.
Because of his hearing, he’s able to hear a great deal of things people and humans can’t, for example, he once heard a high-tech stealth drone coming in close to his team to attack. He heard it from a mile away, and nothing else detected it coming in.
He’s even mentioned being annoyed because the worms in the dirt below him were moving around too loudly. Another impressive thing he did was when trying to defuse a bomb encrypted by sounds that were identical to all humans and machines, he was able to tell the difference.
A test of that was done afterward to study it further, and it was discovered he could tell the difference between identical sounds that have a minuscule difference. He was already very impressive before he was recruited into O.R.B. and afterward, he only got better.
He received several implants designed especially for him and his ability in order to enhance it to its maximum potential. Thanks to the implants he was able to increase his hearing tenfold or reduce it down to a normal person's hearing in order to get a moment's peace.
Alongside having his hearing increased, he went ahead and allowed O.R.B. to remove his eyes and replace them with high-tech cybernetic eyes that allow him to see in a wide range of vision, x-ray vision, heat vision, night vision, and so many more.
His natural talent and skills he developed on his own, alongside the training and enhancements from O.R.B. Parker was a perfect scout and amazing at recon, which is how he ended up joining the Global Infiltration Revenge Legion. Status, MIA.
Parker, like the rest of their team, found herself in a completely new body, inside a locker room in what was likely another world. It was clear they lost the fight and needed a way back, so Klin initiated protocol 404, which is used in this case to blend in and not look suspicious.
So each of them would have to pretend to be normal girls and go about their lives like nothing happened. Which was embarrassing, but for the sake of the mission, they would do it, like they always did.
So they split up and started and began learning about their current identities. Parker left the others and walked around the hallway scouting the layout of the school and looking for any potential traps, and the whole time she kept instinctually trying to increase her hearing or change her vision.
Her current body didn’t have her implants or cybernetic eyes, it didn’t even have her superhuman hearing. It was so strange for Parker, this was the real first time that things had been quiet to her, even in her old body when she turned off her hearing, she could still hear the implants working.
This was different, there were moments of pure silence between clubs and groups of students as she walked down the halls. It was honestly unsettling to her, it was almost like she needed to be surrounded by noise.
That’s when she heard it. The sounds of instruments playing. Parker followed the sounds and made it to the band club. She walked inside and listened as the band played their instruments. There were three people playing which seemed one short of a band and a club.
There was one guy playing drums, one girl playing piano and one girl playing guitar. They all were playing well, but they weren't blending together well, it was like they were trying to play songs solo, and while it was nice for Parker to have the noise again, this was killing her ears.
That’s when Parker realized she still had exceptional hearing. With each note they played, she could tell what it was instantly what it was, so she still had her perfect pitch. Parker walked over to an extra guitar and began to play it.
The other heard it and stopped playing to listen and watch her. Parker began to play the guitar. Music was something she did in her free time in her old life both for fun and as training, so she knew how to play many different instruments.
However there seemed to be a problem now, despite knowing how to play each note, she just wasn't good at playing guitar anymore, and the music sounded slow and dead. It was so strange to her, to be so sure she could do something but no longer be able to do it.
She tried several more times, but couldn't get it to work. Eventually, the drummer told Parker to give it a rest and practice more tomorrow, and that for now she should get up front and start singing. Parker raised an eyebrow and asked what he was talking about.
The guy asked Paola if she hit her head, and she realized that was her new name. She also realized that she was apparently supposed to be here for band practice, which didn’t make any sense to her if she couldn’t play instruments anymore.
Paola got to the microphone and started singing whatever came to mind, she honestly wasn’t bad at singing, but it still felt off. It wasn’t the same as playing an instrument to her, and not being able to play felt like she lost one of the only pieces of herself that she really liked.
They practice for some time before the final bell rings. The group packs up and sucks a bit. The drummer put his head back and sighed. He said that this sucked. He went on to say that he was excited when Paola came up with the idea of a band, but so far none of them were connecting.
One of the girls then said that at this rate they wouldn’t be ready to perform for the school festival. Paola couldn't help but agree with them, there was something they were missing. She knew there was just something missing that would make them all click and be an amazing band.
Paola also took note that this band club was apparently her idea and that there was some sort of school event coming up, so definitely not a lot of pleasure to be dropped into suddenly. Good thing she’s never been one to let things like this bother her.
Paola waves goodbye to her bandmates and starts to make her way home, which she was able to find on the student ID inside her school bag. She was also able to confirm her name was Paola Davenport, and that she was now nineteen years old.
She was also able to discover this version of herself is quite popular and super into music. Her phone storage is full because she has hundreds of recordings of her singing along with tons of saved music and hundreds of selfies with a ton of different people.
In her old life she never had many friends, and never attempted to make any because they were always so loud, but it seems this body doesn't have that problem and because of that people were able to get to know how cool she was and she has a ton of friends.
Paola without realizing it stops in front of a nice home. She looks up at it and somehow she knows it's where she lives. She walks inside and two people call out to welcome her home. One was from a man in the kitchen, and the other from a woman in the living room.
Paola walked into the living room first and greeted the older woman. As soon as she said hello, memories of this woman flooded her head. It was her grandmother on her father's side, and her name was Gina.
On her lap was a beautiful fluffy rabbit. It hopped off her lap and came right to Paola. Paola looked down and smiled as she picked it up and rubbed her nose against his. She suddenly remembered his name as well, Whiskerfoot, which was a silly name she had come up with years ago as a kid.
Paola placed Whiskerfoot on her chest and let him curl up into a ball, something she apparently let him do often, and was able to do thanks to the size of her breasts. Paola looked down at them a bit embarrassed, she had no idea how this was the first time she had noticed how big they were.
Paola excused herself from her grandmother and went into the kitchen. There she found an older man. Again she knew who this was, it was her mother’s father who was named Jeffrey. He sees Paola and Whiskerfoot and smiles.
He tells her dinner will be done shortly and to sit at the table and check out the new postcard from Paola’s parents. Paola nodded and thanked him and went to sit down. Whiskerfoot hopped off her breasts and onto the table and went to a spot that was clearly set up for him.
Paola chuckles at how cute he is and picks up the postcard. It had a picture of two people, who she now knew as her parents, standing in front of the Great Pyramid of Giza. On the back, they wrote her quite a long message.
They mentioned how they had a day off between business meetings and decided to drop by and check it out, then talked about wanting to bring Paola to see it after she graduates, along with many other cool things they’ve seen.
Paola had to admit traveling around the world for fun instead of covert missions sounded quite nice, but at the same time, Paola wasn’t sure she’d want to be that far away from her friends and bandmates for that long…
Thinking about that bummed her out. She was bombed out in both those departments. She was basically useless to her team in terms of getting them back, not to mention she was starting to feel unsure about going back, and then her band was also falling apart.
She placed her head on the table and began to mess with her hair. Her grandfather noticed and asked her what was troubling her. Paola looked up at him, and despite technically just meeting him, she felt like she trusted and loved him enough to ask for advice.
Of course, Paola couldn’t talk about suddenly becoming a girl in another world, so she told her grandfather about her problem with her band. He listened to her trouble and even told Paola he had an idea that might help her.
He left for a bit and came back with all things a theremin. Paola was actually amazed, she had seen videos of this device, but never got her hands on one before. It was one of the most interesting instruments in her mind.
Paola asked her grandfather why he had this. He admitted wanting to learn how to play it a long time ago, but he lacked the skill and talent to use such a device. He then handed it to Paola and told her he believed she had both, and would soon be making amazing songs with it.
Paola thanked her grandfather and played it at the table until dinner was done, then up in her room while Whiskerfoot jammed out to it. This was exactly what she needed. It sounded amazing and she could play it perfectly, and thanks to her good hearing, she was able to perfect each note.
Paola was excited the next day when school ended and club time started. She rushed to the band club and showed off the theremin to her bandmates. She showed them how it worked without actually touching it, and showed off its wide array of unique tones.
Each of them was just as amazed by it as Paola, then even more so when they learned how good she was with it. Everyone began to try and match with her, but it still wasn’t working great, so the drummer decided to change things up.
He grabbed his secondary instrument which was a violin, and he instantly started to connect with Paola and the sounds from her theremin. The other two girls stopped and watched for a moment before figuring out what they needed in order to fit in.
The girl who played piano pulled out the synthesizer and started to play that, while the girl on guitar swapped her acoustic for an electric, and before they knew it, they sounded amazing and in sync for the first time.
The longer they played the more Paola didn’t want to stop. She was having an amazing time. After club time ended, everyone insisted this was their sound and that Paola had to continue playing the theremin. Paola agreed and was more than happy to do so, it was honestly the most fun she’s had.
She left school after her first full day as a girl feeling overflowing with joy, which only made it so much harder to tell herself that she wanted to go back to her old life. She had no idea how she was going to break it to her teammates.
She sighed and decided to push that off until after the school festival. For now, the only thing she wanted to worry about was how awesome she was going to sound on stage. Paola pulled out her phone and smiled as she played her recording of today's practice. She was going to listen and find any way she could possibly play better.
