(All characters are consenting adults)

It was the middle of the work day and I had nothing to do but wait as the videos I had just finished editing processed. As soon as they were done, I’d be uploading it to my Terrific Gamer account on YouTube.

In the meantime, I figured why not kill some time and play games on my phone? I was going to play Honkai Star Rail since I had it on my phone, but the game needed an update, and it was too big, which meant I’d spend my whole time downloading it and still doing nothing.

So I went to my backup game, Fire Emblem Heroes. Not my favorite mobile game, but it does play somewhat like the games, which I do enjoy, and it has my favorite characters, which I enjoy even more.

I check out the level I need to beat and then mess with my team to prepare. I remove Ike from my team and replace him with my female Byleth since the one I have is equipped with a spear, which has the advantage against the current enemies.

I then added Leif who had a sword just for backup. Then I add Male Morgan as my mage and Brady as my healer. I looked it over and it seemed good, so I started the battle. It loaded up and I was about to play when of course, the game stopped and said I needed to update the game.

There was some good news though, the game promised a better version of Byleth than I was using, one you normally had to spend a ton of orbs to get, and the update was only about a hundred megabytes, so it would download in seconds.

I hit download, looked at my video which was processing, and then back down, and the game had already finished downloading. I relaunch the game and claim my new Byleth. She wore a version of her normal costume, but what was really special about her was her strength.

She had better skills, and better upgrades, and was easily twice as strong as the one I had. So I leveled her up thanks to my hoard of extra stuff, added her to my team, and relaunched the game. As soon as I hit the button though, I passed out.

Everything was blank for a moment, and then I heard what sounded like fighting, the smell of fighting, and someone yelling Byleth. I open my eyes and groan. I sat up and felt completely strange, but I didn’t have any time to process why.

The first thing I saw was someone wearing a knight's armor charging at me with a sword. I jumped up and tried to dodge, but his sword hit my chest, but then suddenly everything stopped. I was frozen in place, but so was everyone.

Suddenly things started to move in reverse and I went back to the ground, then I was back on my feet, and then I was back in front of the knight right before. Everything started to move again and I was hit by a blast of fire and sent flying backward, landing on my back in the spot I had woken up in.

I sit up and groan, hear Byleth’s name called again, and see the knight charging at me. This time I realized I had a weapon in my hand, and decided to swing it. Thanks to it being a spear, I had a longer reach and pierced the knight's armor, dropping him to the ground.

I then look at him, and then my weapon. I couldn't believe I had just done that. I mean, I know he was going to do it to me, but still. Why was I here, and why was I in some sort of medieval combat? Suddenly a voice appeared in my head asking me what I was talking about.

It startled me, and I asked who was there, and well the answer was just as crazy as everything else that’s happened so far. She said she was Sothis, like the Sothis from Fire Emblem. She even sounded just like the character did in the game.

As I thought that she asked me what I meant by the game. I gulped, she was in my head, that much was certain but why? Well, she turned out to be quite useful in that department as she started to explain everything, though I’m not sure I believe it.

She said we were in the middle of fighting enemy forces, and that my teammates, Leif, Morgan, and Brady were nearby being attacked. She said I had to go help them since I had the advantage in fights and was far superior to them in strength.

I couldn't believe it, she was saying, my exact Fire Emblem Heroes team was here, well expect one… One thing finally made sense. I know why Sothis is in my head. I looked down and gulped. I somehow became Female Byleth.

Sothis again yelled at me and asked if I hurt my head or something. She told me I had always been Byleth and that I needed to get my head in the fight or I’d end up dying again. She then reminded me there was a limit to how many times she could rewind time.

I gulped, I had died? That attack really did get me. That means the strange thing afterward was Sothis really rewinding time. That also means I’m in real danger, but so are the people that were on Byleth’s team. I had to help them and worry about becoming Byleth and a woman later.

Sothis said there was something very wrong going on in my head, but was happy that I was getting back to the fight. I jumped over a line of fire and ran through the woods with my spear in my hands looking around for friends or foes.

The first person I found was Brady. He wasn’t a fighter, so he was doing his best to dodge and block attacks with his staff, but it clearly wasn’t working as he had cuts all over him and was struggling to move. I rush forward and block the next attack meant for him.

I push the anime back and look at Brady. I told him to heal himself up. He nodded and started to heal while I classed my spear against the enemy’s sword. I dodged a few of his attacks and was playing it safe by staying away, but that was mostly because I was still nervous.

Well, the enemy could tell that and tried to take advantage of that. I was left open to his sword and thought I was about to need Sothis to rewind time again, but a blast of lightning came whizzing by my head and hit the knight in front of me.

He was sent flying and when he hit the ground he didn’t get back up. I turn my head and see Morgan in the distance behind us celebrating his hit, while Leif was running towards us to regroup up. Morgan followed and soon enough we were a proper team again.

Which was good, as the final wave was upon us and the boss was here, which happened to be a corrupted version of Male Byleth. My teammates fought the normal enemies that appeared with him, while I took on Male Byleth.

He was quite strong, but he was slower than me and used a sword, so I had the advantage. I dodged his sword when he swung it and moved my spear toward his chest. As soon as it touched, time suddenly reminded me again.

We went back to before I dodged his sword, he then changed his attack, catching me off guard and forcing Sothis to rewind time for me. This time, instead of attacking, I jumped backward and prepared myself.

I don’t know how I got here, or why this world is seemingly based on Fire Emblem Heroes, but one thing was for sure, the people here aren't limited like they were in the game. Each one has their full powers and is prepared to sue them, and if I’m not careful, I may run out of do-overs.

Comments

I might redo the older ones, and change how I go about writing them. For the next part of this, I think I might try focusing on battles, like I that part in the Dreamy Knight series.

You know, I really got into this story... Yes, I still don't understand the world of Fire Emblem very well, but I really really liked this story and I really really want to see a sequel
