Snake Bake’s New Head Baker (7k Watcher raffle)

Muskrat15 was the winner of my 7k raffle on DeviantArt, this idea is by them!

Sergio was a traveling adventurer, and he lived his life traveling from town to town, picking up quests and odd jobs to support himself. He was currently in a small, but popular town to stop in called Snekirvia.

The town was originally a Lamia-only town, back when monsters and the main races of Hroden were at war, but thanks to the demon lords and their monsters from the underworld, most intelligent monster races like the Lamia made peace with the other races like humans and elves.

They then fought the demons back to the underworld, and peace has remained between those races for over five hundred years. Thanks to that peace, towns like Snekirvia allowed and encouraged other races to visit and even move in.

So while most of the villagers are either full Lamai, or at least part, there are humans, elves, and other races mixed within. Sergio loved villages like this, as while he was lucky to look fully human, he was actually part Lamia himself.

They were also great because they tended to have a lot of work for adventures like himself, which is why he’s been busy since he got here last week. Sergio had just finished his last job and turned it in for a few pieces of gold.

With that, he was actually done for the day, and it was only mid-afternoon, which meant for the first time since getting here, he had time to himself, and time to explore the town and the many unique shops it had.

He checked out the blacksmith and left his sword and shield to be cleaned and repaired, then he headed off to the tailor to have them patch a few holes in his clothes, after which he took a stroll through town looking for another place to visit.

As he did, his stomach rumbled and he realized he hadn’t eaten all day, and he could now smell something super sweet. He turned his head and looked around, and that is when he saw a super cute bakery with its windows open and a fresh loaf of sweet tarts cooling.

Sergio knew he had to have one, so she ran over and flung the door open. He looked around and didn’t see anyone, and calling out didn’t seem to work well. Sergio walked over to the treat and sulked a bit, he really wanted it.

It was the best-smelling thing he’d ever done, and his body was telling him he was going to die if he didn’t eat right now, which wasn’t true, but merely how he felt. Sergio looked around, the tarts didn’t have a price tag on them, but nothing else in the store cost more than five gold.

So Sergio figured he could take one and leave five gold on the counter, even if he was overpaying a bit, it was well worth it to him right now at this moment. Sergio pulled out the gold, placed it on the counter and started eating his treat.

He had nowhere else to go, so he waited around for the person from the bakery to return, just so he could make sure he didn’t underpay, and to assure them that the amazing treat that they worked hard on wasn’t stolen.

It took a few minutes, but at some point, an older Lamia slithered in and apologized to Sergio for not being there. Sergio told her not to apologize and then told her that he took a treat and left gold on the counter and wanted to make sure it was enough.

She looked at it and said it was more than enough, and she offered to give him change, but Sergio said that it was so good, that it was clearly worth what he paid. She smiled and thanked him. She then put the gold in her register, but then she stopped suddenly and looked worried.

She asked Sergio which treat he had eaten. Sergio pointed at the fresh tarts, and that caused the woman to say oh no. Sergio was worried and asked what was wrong, but before he could get an answer he found himself falling to the floor and passing out.

Hours pass and Sergio finally wakes up and sits up. She was now on the second floor of the bakery which was the baker's house, and Sergio was lying in her bed, and the strongest thing, Sergio felt different.

Not just physically, she felt like a different person entirely, yet she remembered being Sergio, but it was almost like he was a dream of hers. As she sat there confused and trying to figure it out, the baker noticed she was awake and came over to check on her.

The first thing the baker did was apologize for being reckless and nearly killing her. Sergio was confused but continued to listen. It turns out that Sergio had eaten some tarts that weren't meant to be eaten.

They were special tarts that were not only baked but enchanted with the baker's knowledge. They were only meant to be eaten by other Lamia so that way she could pass on her knowledge of baking before she got too old and could no longer run the store.

Those tarts are only meant to be eaten by other Lamia, as they kill anyone who isn't one. It was lucky that Sergio was part Lamia, or she’d have died, but because she didn’t die, she ended up with quite a few side effects.

Most of them were because she wasn’t a full lamia, so her body couldn’t take on the knowledge she was trying to pass on properly, so it transformed Sergio into a full-blooded Lamia, but since he didn’t have the DNA for that, it copied the shopkeeper's DNA.

So Sergio was not only a Lamia now, but she was a female one. A female one that was a very young version of the baker. Sergio pulled the blanket off of herself and sure enough, everything the baker had told her was true.

Instead of legs, she had a super long green and purple tail, and she clearly had the chest of a female, Sergio could see her new long pink hair dangling in her face, not to mention she had hundreds of years worth of baking knowledge suddenly coursing through her head.

The baker once again apologized to Sergio and told her that she didn’t know of a way to reverse it, but she was responsible for leaving the tray out where it could cause this sort of thing, so she’d do whatever it took to fix it.

Sergio looked at herself, she wasn’t made, but again Sergio felt like a memory. He was brave, a bit full of himself, and wanted an exciting life of adventure, but the person she was now wasn’t like that at all.

She was a bit nervous, very shy, not full of herself, and most importantly a life of adventure did not appease her, but instead a simple one where she can work hard and make people happy, just like the baker standing next to her.

She nervously tells the baker it’s alright, she’s not mad. The baker was glad to hear it, but she still felt bad, so she spent the next few days caring for Sergio and helping her adjust to her new body, which mostly meant teaching her how to move in it.

After a couple of weeks Sergio or what she prefers to be called now, Sylvia, was slithering around like a natural Lamia. During her time adjusting to her new body, Sylvia started helping out at the bakery and learned she was really good at it, along with that she really enjoyed it.

Of course, the magic treats she ate were likely the reason for both of those, but she didn’t care, she was having a blast and working really hard to make sweet treats for all her customers. Speaking of the customers, they all welcomed her with open arms.

They loved her because she was sweet and kind, not to mention she had the baking skills from all the Lamia bakers dating back to the first settlers of this town. Sylvia wasn’t sure what her plans for the future were when she first transformed, but she chose not to think of that and work hard.

She ended up staying with the Baker and working full-time for months, and before she knew it she was doing the majority of the work, and soon after that, her boss retired and handed the shop over to her.

In less than a year she’d had her whole life changed, she became a super cute Lamia girl, got a change in profession, and was now the owner and head baker of her own little shop called Snake Bake.

It definitely isn't what Sergio would have imagined as his life, but to Sylvia, it was perfect and more than she could have dreamed, and deep down she knows the part of her that is still Sergio was happy as well for this simple and fun new life as a baker of all his favorite treats.

Yeah, I know some people don't really like the personality overwrite theme, but it was requested so I did it, and overall the rest of the story came out really good so I don't think it's a big deal.

A very good and sweet story... I'll be honest when I read the beginning I expected something darker... But this is a surprisingly bright and kind story... Of course there is a small drop of gloom in this but overall it is a very good story and I really liked it
