Martin and Royce were young, adventurous, and best friends. So whenever the opportunity arises to go on an adventure the two could be found side by side. Having started their vacations yesterday, the two had already jumped face-first into their next adventure.
That brought them to the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, where they were currently diving looking for treasure. The two had been tracking the location of a ship from the sixteen hundreds that went missing and they were sure it was in this area.
Now realistically neither one expected to find it, the chances of doing so were extremely rare, but they still enjoyed the fun of it. After hours in the water, both of them were getting ready to call it a day, but right before they started to float up, they found an old-looking board.
Upon inspecting it, they were able to confirm it was from the right era. They pulled on it and suddenly the rocks around it broke off revealing a small cave. The two of them couldn't pass up checking it out, so in they went.
And they were glad they did, because at the bottom was a crate of goods from the ship they were trying to find. They break the crate open and find a very large stone statue of a mermaid inside. It was old and unbroken.
So Martin got to work pulling it out while Royce went back to the surface to operate the wench so they could pull it up. Once he lowered the wench, Martin wrapped it around the statue and tugged on the rope to let Royce know to start pulling.
Martin then guided the statue, making sure it didn’t hit the sides of the cave and break, and then he followed it up to the surface. Martin got out of the water, removed his scuba gear, and went over to Royce.
The two of them started to pull the statue out of the water and onto the boat, but that’s when something unfortunate happened. It was much heavier than they expected, and between its age and being submerged for hundreds of years, it had become super fragile.
So as they pulled it onto the boat, it split in half. Martin ended up falling over with the top half, while Royce fell over holding the bottom half. They sat there holding the halves looking a bit disappointed when the statue started to glow.
What neither one of them knew, but was about to find out was that the statue was a powerful and ancient artifact. Thousands of years ago it was referred to as The Key To Ocean Paradise, as the name suggests, it was the key to being able to go to Atlantis.
It did that using magic. When someone touched the statue, the statue would activate and transform the person into a mermaid, that way they could swim freely in the ocean and Atlantis. It was used quite commonly until the day pirates stole it.
Once it was stolen it could no longer be recharged, so over time its magical reserves faded, and it no longer transformed people when they touched it, as it was reserving its last bit of magic so it could be properly recharged.
Now how does that affect Martin and Royce? Well, when they broke the statue they released the remaining magic from it, which had to be used. There was enough magic left for one transformation, but that caused a problem since two people were now holding the statue.
The magic had no idea they were two different people, so instead of just transforming one of them, the magic pulled them together and transformed them both. Martin and Royce were merged together, then their bodies were transformed.
What started out as two guys, one six foot four with blonde hair and the other five foot eight with red hair turned into a five foot four mermaid with large breasts, long black hair in twin tails, and a long scaly tail instead of legs.
Martin looked down at herself, she couldn't believe she was a girl, never mind a mermaid. She looked around and called out to Royce who was nowhere to be found. After calling him a few times, Royce woke up and yelled at her to quiet down as he was tired and his body hurt.
Martin looked around very confused. She could hear him, but not see him. Martin asked him where he was. Royce sighed and then tried to sit up. That caused Martin’s tail to start spazzing around. Martin tried to stop it, but she realized she had no control over it.
Royce started to freak out since he felt like he was stuck and flopping like a fish. Martin put two and two together and realized that Royce had her tail, and he had full control over it. Martin tried to explain it to him, but he didn’t believe her, but to be fair he couldn’t look up at her.
So to prove it, she used her arms and crawled to the edge of the boat and leaned over so they could both see their entire body in full. Royce was silent for a moment then started freaking out about being the bottom half.
Martin tried to say being in the top half wasn’t all that great either. She had massive breasts and all this hair, and she no longer had legs and really couldn't move herself around. Royce scoffed saying he’d gladly take being the sexy girl half instead of the scaly bottom part.
Royce calmed down and asked Martin to use the statue again to turn them back. Martin nodded and pulled them over to it and held the top half, but nothing happened, so she tried the bottom but again nothing happened.
Royce suggests touching both pieces or trying to put them back together. Martin agreed and did try, but the pieces were too heavy to move with her smaller body and lack of legs. So they’d need someone else to help them.
They talked about cutting their trip early and getting help, but then Martin had a great idea. They were a mermaid, which meant they could travel the ocean freely, and didn’t need scuba equipment. Royce realized where he was going with that.
The two could easily and quickly look around the whole area for more treasure in their current form. As strange as their current situation was, the call to adventure was so strong for both of them that they were willing to use it to their advantage.
Martin pulled them to the water and they jumped in. Martin started trying to swim with her arms, but it was entirely useless. She had to wait for Royce to adjust to being a tail and figure out how to move in a way to propel them forward.
It took a bit of time, but the two managed to get the hang of swimming. They went back down to where they found the statue and started looking around. A few meters below the cave where they found the statue, they found a large part of the ship that had once carried it.
They swam to it and started to look through it. Most of what it had been carrying when it sank was destroyed, but they found something else made from the same stone as the mermaid statue, and it was light enough to pick up.
Martin picked it up and looked at it. She was surprised to find it was a map and hadn’t been corroded at all by the water. Martin flipped it over and as far as she could tell it was a map. Martin took it and the two of them swam out of the broken ship and sat on some rocks to study it.
After looking at it a bit, the two of them recognized the location, the map was old and outdated, but it actually had the location they were in. The pirates that stole the statue and tablet must have been trying to get to Atlantis.
Luckily they drew copies of the map, which was how Martin and Royce were even able to follow their trail. Now with the tablet, they have the exact place where Atlantis could be. After a bit of talking the two decided to continue the adventure as they were and try to return to normal afterward.
The two then decided to take a break before swimming to find the entrance. As they sat there talking Martin noticed something strange. Royce was talking, like not in her head or anything but actually talking.
So she asked him how he was speaking. Which confused him, as he said he was simply moving his lips. Martin laughed and told him he didn’t have those anymore. Royce said he wasn’t lying and that he was moving something like they were lips when he spoke.
Martin turned red for the both of them as they realized what exactly Royce was using to speak. Royce started yelling saying it was so gross that his mouth was actually a mermaid vagina. Martin on the other hand was quite confused.
She had no idea where Royce's mouth was, or how she was supposed to reveal it in order to use it, not that she planned to have sex as a mermaid, Royce would definitely not like that. There was so much about being a mermaid they had to figure out, especially as one controlled by two people.
Luckily, or not so luckily the two would have a long time to figure it out, as they’d make it to Atlantis and learn the way to reverse it was lost when the statue broke, as it was the last one and none of the modern-day Atlanteans know how to make a new one.
Martin and Royce would have to accept their fate and accept that their future would be interesting, especially for Royce, but luckily they have each other, and a vast ocean begging for an adventurous mermaid to explore it.
