Family Tree: Matsumoto-Underhill

Still debating granddaddy be named Edward or Edmund but whatever. Still need to pick names for Edwin’s dad, and his parents. Paternal grandfather is very ‘serious’ but behind closed doors is classic blushing, loves cute things, very sweet but can’t handle it, sits at home hoping his wife will let him brush her hair. I imagine paternal grandma maybe is a lil agoraphobic, anxious and stays home a lot but does her best even if she’s skittish, I think she was also a professor at one point, and but maybe her passion is in painting, or music so grandpa moved them to the countryside of Japan for her to be peaceful and paint. Maternal granddad I just imagine Yosemite Sam 😂, he’s a cowboy, blue blooded American who’s kinda crazy and does as he wants (aka whatever his wife wants). He was once the toughest man in town and won every fight, controlled by his temper until this tiny lady passed through and gave him the withering glare of his life, he was smitten and begged for a couple years until he did what she wanted and she agreed to marry him. He’s the reason Edwin’s short 😩 His wife branded him (he asked) because they’re freaky and a bit intense…. Like maybe they should have gotten divorced…. But they’re in love idk

I imagine Ume and Mr Matsumoto met in Cali at a festival and then decided to get married immediately, like prob dated for ~1 year traveling the world and then went back to their studies, Ume went to class with Edwin as a baby and he was chill af until they finished college/etc and traveled working a while before deciding to settle in the little village they’d call home for many reasons (including legal 🌿) Edwin predominantly lived in America (New Jersey the most haha) then in Japan, then back to jersey, then the parents decided to settle because moving around for dads work was hard and Edwin struggled socially enough as it is 🫠 so now mr Matsumoto is away for stretches and cries about it.
