Some of these comments are unhinged and rather rude. This is a fictional TV show so it's not that serious. No one is 100% wrong but I do side with Rick on the Negan call but I can see his flaws too. In the heat of battle Rick changed his mind which is fine and those that disagree have a right to do so. The final battle with Negan was maybe 3 to 5 days after Carl's death. So, Rick was still grieving. Again, I don't think Rick knew he was going to change his mind about take Negan all the way out until that moment. If they disagreed than like Darryl shot that savior after Rick gave his word he could go Maggie or anyone else could have taken their shot on the spot. But to actively work behind each other's back when you're suppose to be a family is wrong. No one gets their way all the time. Someone is always going to feel cheated whether it be by a little or a lot. I will say Darryl is the one that told Gregory that they would take out the saviors because just like Rick he had an inflated ego about what they could do and what they could handle. Maggie is the one that ironed out the deal with Gregory after Darryl's declaration and with Rick's approval. No matter what the Saviors were going to get them back for taking out the outpost group even if they were out here doing all kinds of heinous things. And Judith is definitely Shane's bio daughter. The conversation between Rick and Michonne confirmed that he knew that himself.

2025-10-31 20:28:37 +0000 UTCDidn't aka "Paul" make a call to bring saviors to the Hilltop as prisoners. That was not in the plan that Rick, Ezekiel, or Maggie made. So if he called an audible Rick most definitely had the right to change the plan in mid-execute. For the record I don't think it was the wrong call. The some of the saviors were going against the new way even with Negan still alive. If Rick had killed Negan on the spot they would have been way worst IMO.

Maggie and Paul both annoy me. Maggie because she's channeling her guilt for her part in Glen's death instead of just dealing with it. Paul because I feel it was out of place for him to judge Rick and echo Maggie's 'beef' when truth be told, he has a part in Glen and Abe dying as well.

First of all he doesn’t have to have a conversation with anybody he’s the law!!! No joining the army is volunteers, and no Ricks communications is spot on and if Maggie wanted to kill Negan, she could have done it herself!!! Stop bashing Rick, no she is not 100% T all, and yes Hanna Rick was grieving!!!

Rick/Michonne are looking big picture very future oriented (even Maggie herself admits his way is better for the future) while her and Daryl are more stuck in the past, while I understand their frustrations (even Rick admits he struggles with the decision too) but yes it was very upsetting to see them be underhanded with the situation. But what was even more upsetting was Daryl telling Rick to let go of Carl yet doesn’t feel the same regarding Maggie and Glenn, especially since Rick has never downplayed negans crimes by forgiving him he just locked him up FOR LIFE letting him rot so to say that irked me. & tbh like Brandon said if it was such an issue and been that shoulda shot him when Rick said save him & said sorry brother no. But being so sneaky I didn’t like it because like ya mentioned all it did was cause all the issues in these episodes (bridge not getting built, the herd coming, etc.) Also I definitely think killing him makes him a martyr (the graffiti) so personally I feel Rick was right & again like ya said if they disagreed so strongly call a meeting with everyone so they can all state their opinions since so many have these thoughts (& handle it accordingly like ya said) but this? Felt like a huge betrayal.

He made promises to Hilltop and Alexandria about vengeance and freedom, stole Oceanside's guns and promised Savior eradication, then when it came time to fufill his promise he changed his mind because his dead son asked him to. He decided to put Carl and his memory above everyone else living AND dead. And the kicker is we KNOW he's being a hypocrite because if roles were reversed, if HIS family was actually killed by Negan, Negan and every Savior would've been dead and the same people he's currently snaking would be standing by him. We've seen this with the guy who let the Walkers into the prison (when Lori was alive), with the Governor, with the guy who tried to SA Carl, with the cannibals wanting to eat little Judy. Yet, because for once the bad guy wasn't a threat to his children, because for once the bad guy was actually fond of his children (in a non-creepy way) all of sudden the bad guy is worthy of keeping alive even though he's killed SO MANY other people's loved ones. Straight hypocritical, snake behavior. Seriously, where is the loyalty to the people who always had his back when HE was the one suffering?

The fact his ideology is that if Negan dies, Carl died for nothing is absurd and I really blame the show runners for this mess because Carl's death created something so ridiculous and he should still be here. Maggie is wrong in the same way Rick was, as Paul was saying because it's not just up to her. I think Ezekiel/Maggie/Syndey/Rick should've came together on the decision but they all accepted Rick's choice, until they realized they didn't have to which is understandable. The way they're going about it is the issue for sure

And we’ve seen him and Carol hard disagree in the past so much so he cast her away and to see that here even if they did disagree they could still see reason, now Daryl… lol. Not one of my favorite Daryl moments honestly. Rick always had to make the hard decisions and Daryl went about things shiesty regardless.

I’m seeing red and if my so called family takes his side and wanna save his life I just might become unhinged. I think Maggie is justified in how she feels because if negan took Carl in that way rick probably would be having a different conversation right now.

Morgan went crazy, carol had to become our Cookie Monster again, Daryl was tortured, hill top lost almost everybody, we lost our tiger, and so on. I don’t know why you want negan alive Addison. I’ve finished the show but at this point there’s no way you can want him alive.

He’s been overwhelmed with grief and not open to anyone else’s ideas in honor of Carl, but has totally neglected the ones WHO LIVE on. I can see why Maggie & Daryl feel that way and why Rick thinks that way and they’re both selfish, but Maggie’s grief makes sense.

The group, Rick and Maggie especially, spent nearly all of the past two seasons on the same page about wanting to kill Negan. And when Rick was too scared and weak to go up against Negan, it was Maggie who was strengthening Hilltop and preparing them all for war. And then you have Rick telling Maggie in the first episode of season 8 that when this is all over, “I’m gonna be the one following you” or something like that. Just for him to do the exact opposite, go against everyone’s wishes against yours and Michonne’s PURELY because of Carl. 😒 Adison’s tripping ngl. Getting pissed at Daryl going behind Rick’s back when Rick literally did the same thing to Daryl, Maggie and everyone else by deciding that they’re sparing Negan is crazy.

2025-09-27 12:47:57 +0000 UTCI see how you keep bringing up how Rick is the leader and while that's definitely been true from seasons 1 to 6. I must correct you on 1 detail from season 7 to onwards. Since Rick is the protagonist, it's easy to say everything is happening because of him, but I don't believe that's true in this case at least. Rick was one of the 3 leaders in the war against Negan, but I don't believe he was above Ezekiel or Maggie apart from being the only one Negan knew by name. This part is just conjecture, but I'd argue Maggie was the Main leader as you put it. When Negan killed Abraham and Glenn, Rick gave up and it took Michonne to show him the way. Maggie was still locked in and wanted to fight Negan from the jump and she was the one who united the Hilltop. It was Maggie and Ezekiel that saved Rick when he got trapped again by Negan in the season 7 finale and it was Maggie's community that became the final stand in Season 8. Granted Maggie was uniting everyone for get back, but so was Rick up until he read Carl's letter. But the point I'm trying to make that at this point while Rick was a leader he wasn't THE leader, but he made himself into that by deciding Negan's fate which shouldn't have been up to him alone

There are 4 different communities with their own leaders (YES MAGGIE is the leader of hilltop, NOT Rick) so he can’t make a decision like that alone when literally all of those communities were ravaged by the saviors. Rick’s feelings aren’t above everybody else’s just because he’s in charge of Alexandria. If Negan smashed Michonne’s head in like Glenn’s he wouldn’t be trying to find peace at all. He's held on to it for a long time so It's almost as if losing that one thing is him losing his last real connection to his wife. That's how he sees it and feels about it.
