That makes me wonder if he was capping with the Governor before Hershel died & the Governor knew that even if Rick was telling the truth, there was still a chance Rick would take him out once he got comfortable. I absolutely think that's how it would've gone, even tho Philip brought everything on himself. That's why he called Rick a liar. It all makes sense now🤣

If he had offed Negan they would have thought what's to keep him from doing that to us and they would never have been able to work together. Jesus changed up the plan and brought the saviors back to Hilltop without discussing it with Maggie or Rick. Rick fully intended to end Negan but at the last minute he did make a different decision. If he had told Maggie and Darryl he was having doubts or actually planned to keep Negan alive they would have done everything they could to sabotage him. Just like Darryl and Tara sabotage the Sanctuary by driving the truck through the building.

Besides Morgan, Glenn is the REASON why Rick got back to Carl & Lori in the beginning, and he died A HORRIBLE DEATH in front of you & his wife. Maggie deserved a say in this just as much as Rick did but Rick took that away from Maggie. I dont condone her & Darrel going behind Rick’s back, but I can understand their loyalty wavering because of what Rick just did.

Negan being in prison would show the saviors that TF is different and we don't have to kill the leader to get out point across. Also yes Rick is very deceptive, he talks to let folks let their guard down and strike, Shane was the first person he did it too lol. Eugene did good but he have a long way to go to redeeming himself. Great reaction and discussions.

I’ve been on Patreon since midpoint of season 1. My hubby & I felt the same as Brandon does about Eugene, it’s a start at his redemption & coming back into the fold. We also thought the very ending to this episode sucked but things I know now that were happening in rl behind the scenes I understand the why better now. My 2 fav episodes for watching peoples reactions too are coming & im sooo excited for it, Shhhh … no spoilers 🤫🫣😉😂🤣 Edit: As for the keeping neagan alive discussion, imo I don’t think it was just Carl’s words that Rick chose to keep him alive, I think the possible martyr neagan would of became to the remaining saviors, which would of opened another can of drama down the road for sure, I do understand Maggie’s perspective though & I honestly would of felt the same as Maggie did, & yes I feel that Rick should of talked about the possible outcomes with key people & not just make the decision on his own but would anybody in our main group be in the frame of mind to actually hear other possible outcomes besides death for neagan.

I replied to another comment that Maggie has been pregnant for 2 1/2 seasons, but she's been pregnant for 3 full seasons - she was pregnant at the beginning of season 6. She's not showing! They dragged the Negan story out! I agree with JDM over doing the character Negan. Remember Southpark making fun of Negan? I noticed JDM in the movie Rampage with The Rock came off very Negan-like. UGH. Maggie deserved Justice. However Maggie, Daryl and Jesus' comments at the end felt like the writers trying to set Maggie/Rick as next season's conflict. I also haven't watched all their reactions. I only skipped to key scenes in this reaction. I didn't finish TWD (I stopped watching after 9x5 while it aired) until the announcement of The Ones Who Lived.

I honestly feel like part of the reason they killed off Carl was to have an excuse to kill Negan, which is dumb when they literally could just did the same thing in the comics, which is lowkey essentially what happened in 2x11, when Carl walked in on Rick getting ready to execute Randall, and told him to do it, and Rick couldn't because he saw what he was being pushed to become and that darkness he was seeing in his son, and made the choice to set an example to Carl. In fact, if the show was smart, they literally could have did a whole callback to that moment in the show. Everyone on the field watching Negan with the slit throat. Rick with his revolver pointed at Negan's head as he's on his knees, and in that moment before he pulls the trigger, Carl and once again, he sees that darkness in him(4x16 reference for Carl), and cut to Rick remember the moment Carl walked into the barn to, and the straight up cold, matter of fact way he just told Rick to basically shoot Randall in the head right now as he wanted to WATCH it happen. THEN Rick gets the epiphany of when Carl was in the infirmary the morning after he got his eye shot out, and remembering the promise he made to Carl about showing him "The New World", and decides to once again, to set an example to his son about what "The New World", rebuilding true civilization should look like by imprisoning him(which is, funny enough, what peaceful wanted in the first place as he built that cell when they went to take out that outpost, "To give you some choices next time"). Like, it really could have been that easy to do and it would have absolutely been effective to finish the war on that, bringing Rick into a NEW headspace of who he's gonna be. The show really did Chandler dirty, eapecially since right after the epislde 8x09 aired, having him go on Talking Dead for his final epispde, and them playing it to the audience and fans as if it was Chandler's choice to leave to go to college, which I had supported the decision because I thought it was HIS like they tried to play it as, when he fully intended on still doing both, which they knew, and he just sat there on that couch on live tv sad smiling and going along with it, despite knowing the truth. He was may have been 18 by that point, but looking at him on that couch, that was a still a kid right there. If it wasn't for his father airing their tails out on Twitter afterwards about what actually happened(allegedly), we'd probably still be believing that lie that it was Chandler's choice to leave and that he left the show for college. I felt so bad for Chandler. It was like he turned 18, graduated from high school ready to go brought himself house so he can go to work and school, get a higher pay now that he was an adult, and ready to take on these new endeavors, not only for the tv series that you'd spent the last 8 years on, almost half of your childhood, but to have it done it such a trifling way. It was like, "Yay, you're an adult now. Watch how the world immediately screws you from here on out". I don't even think he even went to college after that(I remember him saying he went to, even though he picked his school in Atlanta specifically and brought a house in between so he could do both. I had actually intended to stop watching the series after, which was something that had never crossed my mind before(unless Michonne died, but I wasn't worried about that at the time either). Luckily there were a few things that convinced me to stay/come back that I won't discuss... The worst about Carl's death, beside all of that, and the fact that they did it in the first place because if's legit the worst decision the show ever made storywise imo, was how out of character Carl felt coming where from where was as a character at fhe end of season 7(I still haven't watched y'all reactions to 8x08 and the rest of the season besides randomly catching the live reaction of y'all watching 8x14, I think, and still debating if I'm going to or just wait for season 9). I'm not talking about him helping people/strangers like his did wkth Saddiq because that's ALWAYS Carl and is honestly one of my favorite characteristics of his(he was the reason the saved Father Gabriel when he was because they heard a scream and Carl tried to leave to help whoever was needing it, basically forced Rick to go help). Not Carl trying to check Rick on his aggressive and defensive attitude like he did in the first episode with Saddiq because Carl "checking" Rick and/or reminding him who he needs to be is nothing new. Not even the fact that Carl, because he's not dumb. He's been and Carl's naturally good natured heart is right up his alley. But to have his dream one day involve Negan being part of the community at the end is like wtf? This is the same dude that IMMEDIATELY started capping folks the moment Walker Sasha came lunging out that casket. This is the dude that pulled up to The Sanctuary, and still was he running mouth and threatening Negan by the end of it.as.if he had any actual advantage whatsoever with zero fs given lol. This is the dude that told Enid that he made himself not look away and watched the WHOLE brutal beatings and death of Abraham and Glenn because he needed to have it every bit of it clear in his mind for when he killed Negan. This is the dude who was the ONLY one that never broke, even as he laid on the ground getting ready for his arm to get chopped off, and straight up told his dad "Just Do It", like he was shooting a Nike ad, and he didn't even really seem scared because knows that sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. This is the same dude that does 👏🏾 not 👏🏾 play 👏🏾 about 👏🏾 his 👏🏾 people 👏🏾. And ifgonna sit here and tell that the One Eyed Crashout from last season, Mr. I'm Just Gonna Start Shooting MFs Like We All Don't Have Guns To Our Heads Right Now is somehow gonna suddenly want Negan to be part of the community because he's dying? Asking Negan to stop the fight and act right is one thing because he knows a lot of the people in The Sanctuary are just regular workers getting done dirty by Neagn's system of control as well. He's just also putting a roof over their heads. Being okay with that mf Negan still being alive(he'd might accept imprisonment) and having him show at the end of his dream for the future is different, and I genuinely call bs. And I think they simply used Carl and killing him off as to get Rick to make peace with everyone, The Sanctuary, but to include Negan because they all are going to have to live with each other(within our own communities, of course) after the war is finished and all of the blood had been shed, in order for them all to move forward as a regrowing society. For Chandler to be on the show that long, and you get killed of give an excuse for keeping a whole character, I'd be blown. Yeah Carl's death ended up leading to the creation of peace between Sanctuary and the rest, through his words and wisdom, in the end, but to kill my character off so you can keeping another character? After 8 YEARS of him working on these show? Did they need more money for other peole's contracts, and since he was turning/turned 18 and was gonna start getting paid more, so they decide cut him out of the budget costs of something? I hope that wasn't the case and I will say this about the whole keeping/sparing Negan thing. Did I want them to kill him off, despite reading the comics and knowing how it went? By that point? Yeah. I was honestly over Negan like a season and a half prior to this, which was like a year and a half of being over this character. I don't know if it was the writing, or if maybe JDM swept up in all of the big fanfare he was getting for his performance for the role that he kinda started OVERDOING the performance for me, but I'd genuinely just wasn't feeling the character anymore, which is kinda crazy because until lime 7x08, oh I was eating it up just like everyone else as a character because he was eating it up(he still needed to go because also F Negan, but he wasn't my favorite villains from the comics anyways). I just didn't find his character interesting anymore, but he wouldn't go away. Also, if wanted to hear dick jokes all of the time, I'd hang out with young fratboys lol. He just felt really overplayed and honestly boring, and trying to get me to have empathy for him over his dead wife he didn't even deserve was it lol. Simon was honestly the more captivating and interesting character to me. Now, I would have rather them keep Carl and went with the scenario I put if they were going to keep Negan, but they didn't. I was annoyed when Rick told Saddiq to save him because Negan deserved every bit of that slow death he was getting, but again, I knew how the comics went, so Inwasn't surprised in the least. The thing that pissed me off was the fact that Rick made that choice without ever. He FORCED that choice on her, which was completely unfair of him. ESPECIALLY after adamantly promising her that he was going to kill Negan in the beginning of the season. "My mercy prevails over my wrath". To me, that wasn't his mercy to give. That wasn't his choice to make, at least not alone(or just with Michonne, but with at least with Maggie, Ezekiel, and the Cyndie from Oceanside because grandma can't do the diplomacy aspecct of leader ship lol, and they all discuss the options together). That should have been MAGGIE'S decision, or a decision the leaders discussed TOGETHER. It reminds me of when Rick kicked Carol out the prison and I aways hated that. Not necessarily because Carol was sent away for what she did, but because it wasn't Rick's choice to make, as he was no longer in charge. He even said that he was making the decision for MY Children, but failed to seize that he was actually making the decision for the entire prison without speaking to the people in charge about it first. But this Negan thing? I would have felt betrayed. Again, did I see it coming? Yeah. But you know as someone who probably one of the BIGGEST Michonne fans, it was Michonne grabbing and holding Maggie back as she's screaming "No" and everything that kicked me in the gut in that scene. I think legit reached out and tried stop Michonne from grabbing Maggie without even thinking, or at least mentally did it when I first saw that scene lol. And the feeling took me by surprise because I've ALWAYS trusted Michonne's judgement over everyone's else's in the show. Up until that moment, I don't think I'd ever been mad about Michonne on the show regarding anything before. I'm lowkey like Rick. Whatever Michonne says goes lol. Being Rick (also I remember wanting to straight up Moral Kombat uppercut Daryl's head off his shoulders this season, especially since I pretty much kinda hated the character at that point, and that truck stunt bs he did to the and basically botched the war out of their favor and in return caused a lot of lives and casualties afterwards because he's the impatient doofus who lacks emotional control and a lot of emotional intelligence). I've probably been mad at just about every character on this show EXCEPT Michonne at one point or another, until that moment. And again, it's not the fact of keeping Negan alive or Rick/Michonne's reasoning why necessarily, because I understood Whenever people ask which character I'd pick to survive the apocalypse with, I always pick Michonne. So, me disapproving something that Michonne did that it felt weird and had me kinda stuck because I don't think it'd ever crossed my mind that it could or would ever happen lol. Do I understand what Rick and Michonne intentions were? Absolutely. Do I agree with it? Honestly, if they weren't gonna kill him, letting him rot in a cell for the rest of his life is a second best choice, and killing him WOULD most likely make him a martyr amongst the Saviors and some of the which would cause problems down the line, which would ruin the world, unification, and peace they were trying to achieve. Do I Iike how they went about it? Absolutely not. Saving Negan was one thing. But physically holding Maggie back, stopping her from getting the justice that was not only promised, but owed? Without discussion? If they kept him alive so they could discuss fully kn what they were going to do with Negan together as ally communities, then it wouldn't bother me as much. They still made the decision without hef. If I was Maggie, I'd genuinely feel soooo betrayed that I probably wouldn't know how to handle it. And it hurt even more because it was my favorite characte, who I'd always kinda relied on and trusted to make "right" decisions. To me, this wasn't one of them...

Which for some people that's even worse. So in no way is Rick forcing her to do anything just by letting Negan breathe. Sry Maggie you'll get over it. Brandon was right with his initial response, horribly written and reaks of trying to stretch this conflict out for the sake of extending the show.

A laceration to the neck can really only draw blood and that's it unless the external jugular vein is severed which in that case is most of the time an off button. But I'm guessing in Negan's case it was just a cut. The off button is really from a deep wound like a gunshot or deep cut that severs both the carotid artery along with the internal jugular vein which is 1/4 that supply the whole body with blood.

2025-09-20 21:03:49 +0000 UTCOn neegan im with Ad in that in order for there to be a better way we gotta start somewhere and what better way to start than our biggest op but it shouldn't be Rick's sole decision Neegan should face some sort of judicial process where his crimes against us can be weighed with the consequences of his actions we cant just kill every person who wrongs us and Neither Rick or Maggie should be the ones to make those decisions on their own if we dont set up a way for crimes to be judged in an unbiased fashion we will never escape the cycle of one man bieng judge jury and executioner

Rick did all that for the memory of Carl and went against promises he made to Maggie and Darryl. At the end of the day, Negan wasn't Rick's to spare. Negan wasn't Carl's to spare. Negan's fate belonged to Dwight, Sascha, Rosita, Maggie, Darryl, whoever was closest to Olivia and whoever was closest to Spencer (so Rosita). Not Rick, not Michonne, not Carl. And you BEST believe if Carl and Glenn were swapped. That if Negan had smashed Carl's head into the pavement and a bitten Glenn had asked Maggie to make peace with Negan... Negan would be dead. Rick would've gone through all of them to kill him and Michonne would be by his side, holding Maggie back so Rick could kill him against Glenn's wishes.

So her being furious is quite justified, Glenn literally only died like a month ago. Also, I cannot wait for you guys to watch season 9, an underrated great season.

2025-09-20 09:46:44 +0000 UTCWhat I love about Rick's letter to Carl at the end is that it's a call back to Rick's words from season 6 episode 9 when Carl was in bed after getting shot and he didn't know if he'd pull through. When he saw the Alexandrians fighting alongside them to protect Alexandria and finally believed in a future beyond just survival and death. He told Carl he wanted to show him the new world. To make it a reality for him. Carl then woke and held his hand. But in the end, Carl passed away, but he showed Rick the new world, by helping show him the way, holding his hand. ❤️

I love Rick but it wasn't his decision to make. And what about all the other saviours that died along the way? Especially the ones Rick and Morgan killed. They deserved to die but Negan didn't? I understand that being locked up is probably a fate worse than death for someone like Negan, but still that just doesn't sit right with me.

Rosita’s tough love forced him to ACTUALLY take a stand and be accountable. Gabriel as well. I can’t say that he would’ve done that had they not say anything to him honestly. So again, Rosita is underrated in the role that she plays. What I will say is season 9 is a MASTERPIECE of a season. The people that didn’t watch missed out. Funny enough season 7&8 were not peoples favorite because it dragged. Yall had the luxury of slightly binging but it was rough to get through back then.

I was 😡 about Rick keeping Negan alive because I felt for Maggie she's grieving she never really was able to grieve her dad or her sister and Negan killing Glenn took her grief to a whole nother level and I just got to say for poor Morgan he's already messed up but the group was telling him when he didn't want to kill he should kill and then when he start killing they was telling him to stop killing Morgan like make up your mind y'all want me to clear or not 😂

As for Rick sparing Negan that was set up since the beginning that prison cell was gonna serve a huge purpose eventually and the fake out kill with the knife was pretty brilliant. Poor Maggie for real she gas every right to hold resentment for Rick and Michon ne. Y'all misunderstood the conversation with Maggie and them they aren't planning to fight Rick necessarily they just want to prove that sparing Negan was the wrong choice or whatever. Don't think for a second Daryl would harm his brother they not opps guys until they actually do something to hurt our people trust me.

That was a moment that Maggie felt she had the right to. For Glenn. And Rick saved him. And michonne held her back from doing it herself. Rick and michonne are her family, but she lost the love of her life… the father of her child, and right now she’s not seeing it like they are. They have Carl on their minds. Maggie has Glenn. And this was a decision Rick made by himself, I think in this case it’s understandable for them not to automatically agree with him on it.
