Here are some reasons why you wouldn't have to fear him: A. Unless you give him a reason to, he won't kill you (you are a strangler) but he will interrogate you because of his paranoia. B. Not saying what he did was right but keep in mind this is a war and these people have done no less than Negan in his name to live how they live, They are not the innocents in factories that carl spoke about they are the foot soldiers. C. Rick's grief is a bit complicated since it encompasses all the people he lost in the fight until now (Sasha, Glenn, Abraham and last but not least his Son) the one who he gave everything for to keep alive. Now he is at a cross-roads, he is not sure if he should give up and die now or finish the fight for Judith. The future that Carl spoke about in his letter is not on his mind at the moment.

I think it was right, but has done worse. It might not be himself doing it but like you’re saying it’s still the voice of the leader like for instance Negan’s group killing all men over 10 years old at that island come on now.

Also we know by the photograph taken at the other outpost that there were other communities maybe smaller and the savior killed them as well. Textbook recency bias... which is odd because the other thing that happened recently is Rick losing his son. I imagine none of you have probably ever lost a child (I hope) but as you can see with both Morgan and Carol even years later it's something that stays with you and for Rick, who in essence is the leader of multiple communities right now, he doesn't even feel he has time to grieve because of the saviors. This isn't "You killed my cousin back in 94, f your truce" this is you killed Glenn, Abraham, Spencer (that one was a favor really), Maggie's doctor, and indirectly got half my people killed not to mention many other communities', over the last 2 years! I'm not excusing murdering people who had waved the white flag, just saying it's more understandable than killing people in order to "save" people. And these are saviors you're talking about so you don't really know who you can trust while we still at war.

That's because Rick said it earlier this season when he convinced that savior boy to tell him and Daryl where the weapons were in exchange for his life. Then Daryl killed him anyway, which Rick didn't like. So the fact that Rick used those same words this time after he told Daryl just last episode "I was busy worrying about other people when I should've been worried about our people, to hell with anyone else," it just shows he went down the same path Daryl was earlier this season, by killing saviors who helped him in exchange for their lives.

When Daryl kills the young guy outside the outpost Rick clearly seems shook about it. The guy just saved Rick and he kills him. It just doesn't make sense imo. Rick killed people purely out of anger and grief, he was wrong for it. He’s the one who broke him mentally and had him crazy again and similar to Eastman starving Creighton Dallas Wilton to death in a cage Morgan instead does the inverse of that and has Jared eaten alive holding him against a gate. 2025-09-17 21:15:23 +0000 UTCI think we can all agree what Rick did in that moment was foul and I think everyone would like to believe they’d do differently if they were in his shoes, but it’s easy to judge as a viewer from the outside looking in. What I most appreciate about the show is there are NO perfect characters. Everyone has had their ups and downs. The type of trauma they’ve endured is more than enough to not only change a persons moral compass but disrupt the brain. Every single person on this show has SEVERE trauma/PTSD. Rick has dealt with the death of multiple friends, death of his wife, the Governor, The Cannibals, The Hospital, The Saviors, and now Carl’s death. It’s been fight after fight, struggle after struggle all 8 seasons. I said all that to say, I can identify when Rick and group make mistakes I don’t necessarily agree with but I can 1000% see/understand how they’ve been led to make said mistakes. I also don’t and will never compare Rick and group to Negan and his Saviors based on a few bad decisions made during a WAR.

2025-09-17 20:36:59 +0000 UTCNegan is reasonable most of the time, his people get food, water and shelter for simple work while his soldiers are given special privileges and the freedom to do what they want (providing they don’t break his laws). Remember season 6 where Rick’s talking to Daryl and Carol and goes “we’ll just take this place”; Rick was about ready to kill everyone in Alexandria that he couldn’t find a use for. Negan was fine with his people not being fighters. Even if they were a liability, he accepted their responsibility. Rick was always so quick to disregard people he saw as liabilities. He even left Jadis to die after her people were slaughtered. Also to counter the slave argument, the regular Alexandrians don’t have much freedom either (nor do they want it) because no one goes beyond the walls unless they’re sent on a scouting mission. Rick and Negan lead in very similar ways but Negan’s seems worse because his location of residence is worse. I’m sure if he lived in the suburbs, his people would get the same amenities. And look, Negan is absolutely a spawn from hell for having a harem of wives who were pressured into marrying him but at the same time, Rick is a savage bastard who’ll go against his word and kill people that surrender to him. Negan atleast has a measured approach where rules are laid out clearly but Rick just acts as he feels on the day. To be clear, I think Negan is worse than Rick overall but it’s not a crazy difference and Rick can absolutely be worse depending on the day.

Trauma does these kinds of things to the psyche, and we can't ignore that. "RIght" and "Wrong" are subjective depending on the perspective. It's the same reason why some of the Saviors believe they're on the right side and that Rick is the villain. Nothing is ever as simple as this or that when there's so much nuance to consider like environment and trauma.

Everyone is different, and everyone has a different recation. And as long as you do no wrong to rick, he will not kill you, he may tell you to leave, but he will not kill you. With negan, their is a hundred percent chance you will be enslaved, and if its just two of you, their is a 50 percent chance one of you will die.

He said 1 of you had to die and picked the least pitiful person there (Abraham). He said they get 1 outburst but anything else will get punished, so he killed Glenn after he got punched. In fact, I think the only thing he lied about was when he was coming to collect his 50% but that makes sense because he didn't want them getting slick and hiding things so he showed up early.
