Wicked, Grease, Chicago, moulin rouge, the greatest showman all great musicals. There’s also movies like pitch perfect that aren’t exactly musicals they just have a musical element in that the main cast are in a singing group/ ensemble.

Now moving on: 1. I believe this movie came out after High School Musical 2 but definitely before HSM3 did 2. Yes it is a Broadway production 3. I know you’re not a big musical person, as a musical fan I do understand why/how people wouldn’t care for them.. BUT if you enjoyed the messages in this movie I do think you would at least really enjoy The Greatest Showman (which Zac is also in), Dream Girls and Wicked.. which I know Carianna has probably been bugging you to react to since it came out last year lol but pleaseeeee just listen to her its THAT good. People that I know who don’t typically like musicals always seem to at least enjoy those three and Hairspray. 4. I could be wrong but I believe this was the last big project Amanda Bynes was involed in, but don’t come for me on that one because I’m not 100% sure lol

P.S.: the movies you were probably thinking of when talking about a buffed-out Zac Efron are either The Lucky One (which is a romcom), or Baywatch which co-stars The Rock.

Yes, when Motown artists did the chitlin circuit, they had a rope in the audience to maintain segregation. This movie had a great message. The original movie that came out in the 1980s had different music but the same themes. Then it became a Broadway musical, so this movie was more like the Broadway musical. People have already listed some good musicals in the comments. Grease is a great one with John Travolta. My favorite musicals go back to the golden age of musicals: Carmen Jones with Dorothy Dandridge & Henry Belafonte or Guys & Dolls with Frank Sinatra & Marlon Brando. I have a huge Lena Horne framed photo on my bedroom wall from Stormy Weather. West Side Story (original) ... People keep mentioning Hamilton as a musical. But musicals have spoken dialogue with song & dance numbers. Operas are 100% sung. So Hamilton would be an opera as it is all rapping and singing. The music slaps! Just do yourself a favor and read the Wikipedia pages about the US Revolutionary War and Alexander Hamilton. There are too many Hamilton reactions by folks raised in the US who don't know the history. Some of them thought the war in the musical was the Civil War, or didn't know George Washington was a general in the Continental Army. It's not SPOILERS to know the history.
