The “Flanders Blues” is what they called PTSD at the time of the show but it wasn’t universally known as that mostly called that by the men who fought at “Flanders” like if you fought somewhere else you’d probably refer to it as “that place you fought” blues.

Most of these armies consisted of men from the same street and neighborhoods. One army was even called the Pals because they joined with their friends. Saying that, WW1 was fought with napoleon tactics with modern weapons. It was just a meat grinder of a war for both sides. So could you imagine being these men that not only saw the horror of war but you watched your childhood friends die everyday in front of you. This war was the first time we saw PTSD in a wild scale. They called it Shell shock until the Vietnam war.
