Then she felt like she had to try to take out Aemond and Vhagar after Daemon ridiculed her for letting Team Green survive back in season one. But also, she just found out her husband had kids outside of their own marriage. Pair that with her having lost her own kids to tragedies ( well, one kid ) and that's just a recipe for anybody to want to finally throw down for something. She seemed very depressed this episode and ready to die fighting.

Also, don't be fooled by those paper cuts on Vhagar's chest. Homegirl hit the ground and bounced up like it was nothing. In fact, the book says that she was "unharmed", and we see her gliding away without any problems. Meleys put the beats on Sunfyre, but her chances of beating Vhagar were little and less. Additionally, the dragon Meraxes (Google it) was the second largest dragon to ever exist...and the first one killed by commoners. You gotta give props where props are due.

2024-07-09 23:27:21 +0000 UTCDoes seeing the dragons in battle and how helpless the non-dragon riders are, are you more or less eager to watch Danaerys take her three dragons to war (even if they're much smaller than the ones we've seen here)? Edited to add: Between the grief Rhaenys had for losing her two adult children and even her "grandson" Luke as the heir who was supposed to marry one of her "true-born" granddaughters, and Rhaenys expressing to her husband that the right thing to do was to reward his out-of-wedlock son for saving him, it feels to me like she wanted to go out as a badass (taken out in battle by the biggest dragon alive, and the one who ended her daughter) and get out of the way for her husband to set up a new heir with the son that wasn't hers (since we saw last season he's concerned about his heir/lineage, with Luke dead). It would be pretty disrespectful for him to set up his lineage through another woman while his wife lived, and she wouldn't want to live to see that. I think she believed this was a worthy sacrifice on multiple levels (damaging the biggest dragon was good for the war, going out like a G is good for her personal legacy, and letting her husband start over for his family line).
