I know I am spamming, and I have a mini Fan Service to edit and some videos to record, but I wanted to let you know what I have decided to do. You guys helped me get there, and it pertains to content you watch, so I owe you an invitation to the loop! Also, I love you!
I am returning the lens I bought. It seems like a solid lens, but it's not perfect for the blur effect I want, and I am never going to need the 105mm zoom, honestly. Even when I do events.
I opted to buy a different lens with a f/ of 2.8, and a lesser zoom range that is newer. I also bought the ND4 filter necessary to hike up the ISO in cooperation with the low f/. Whatever happens with that lens, unless it's god awful, I'll stick with it for a while.
Since I reached the goal, I plan on getting the new camera body next month once I know I have enough money. I want to get the laptop first, though, let me tell you why.
1. There is software that allows me to wirelessly relay what's on my viewfinder to my laptop/computer. Never again will I have blurry footage, and this will help immensely since I might be using manual from now on.
2. I can edit without my back hurting at the computer.
3. I can play all of my steam games in the living room on our big TV. (My laptop is old. It barely played Wolf Among Us, and porn is really laggy.)
4. I might be able to stream in the living room, or console games with a capture card! How awesome would that be!? No promises, but it'd be fucking sick!
As for the poster giveaway, I'll conduct that at the very beginning of the month of June! I think I'll give away 5 posters to Patrons only using Gleam, like I do with Zamplebox and my indie games!
The live stream Q&A for Patrons... I can do it on Twitch on the creative channel, or something. I will do it next month, and will poll in a couple weeks what time is best for you guys. I'm not sure how far you typically sit from the camera, but if you do opt to shoot manual, take a look at the DoF info I noted in the other post. You will probably want something to place at the Focal Point when you are setting things up. Maybe you can use Shao Khan lol :) The laptop sounds like a great idea. I've seen some people that have the wireless camera to computer software. Works great without too much lag. Not sure if you already have one picked out, but you'll want a really great wifi card and some serious processor speed. But, if you look for ones geared for gamers and/or video processing, you should be fine. Also, if you are going to be wireless in the house, make sure the house router has some decent speed. A crazy fast wifi card doesn't mean anything if the router from your ISP is silly slow. Netgear and Belkin are pretty decent brands.
