Continued lols: so the whole life/work/leisure somewhat falls down because there are people who don't make enough money at work to support themselves on 40 hours or less, so they work a second job. It depends on what your position/degree/schooling is if you are getting paid a lot or not much, and also if your husband (almost everyone I work with is female) makes enough to cover your unmet expenses, then you might not need two jobs. I would say at least half the people there are working a second job.

2025-01-11 14:53:58 +0000 UTCWork/life balance is something that comes up at every staff meeting where I work (about 3 times a year we have meetings). They call it a myth. It's really work/life/leisure balance. Work= when you are at work. Life= shopping, taking care of kids, doing house work, fixing shit. And then instead of stopping there, they include a third category which is leisure. That's playing, hobbies, sports, tv, ticktok, lifting weights, whatever you like to do that is fun that you don't have to do. Then the CEO of our organization completely fails to model this by working the hours of three people himself. Literally. Three people quit last summer and since then he has been unable to replace them despite advertising and offering good pay and benefits so he has been doing all of their jobs, working day and night, sleeping in the apartment above work but still on call. He goes home from 4 pm to 8 pm each day to see his kids. Then he comes back for a night shift. It's nuts. But everyone else he expects to work 40 hours or less. I am full time at 36-37 hours. Every inch of work must be clocked in, even answering emails. Clock in at home if you are doing that, or face consequences.
