I've experienced both, where I chose to love and for 13 years used that initial decision as the foundation for me to stay, and rage, lack of needs being acknowledged that cracked the door open for me to leave. I've observed the opposite as well, where I saw the other person, and myself, our differences of being out to family and friends, and chose daily to continue to love them anyways. It ended on a different note, and this podcast was especially insightful as it was triggering because I reflected on things I could have been more communicative about, more truthful about in the moment, but my brain was working overtime to hold on to what I had and not allow the fear of the consequence, building up to "an event" and not discourse.
