The gameplay update blatantly isn't ready, and will probably need another month to cook.
So here's the story event leading to the hub, since that's all done. I mean, I can't just not release anything for a month.
Press F1 to initiate it. Should still work with old saves, but I absolutely wouldn't recommend using this version for anything else. Not only have I not tested it, several flags and mechanics, old and new, are completely broken or missing.
You can still access some of the stuff in the hub to see how it works, I guess.
There's the basement, where you summon monsters and nightmares.
The mirror, which is used to change appearance.
You can play some animations with Rin by the bed. Maybe. Will change how this works later.
For the purpose of testing, F2 gives 5 of each basic colored orbs, F3 gives 3 Dissonance and 3 Corruption.
Here's an update to how the mechanics ended up. There are some differences to the original post.
Insight
-Renamed to Coherence
Orbs
-Don't need to be picked up. Just interacting with them will send them to storage, or discard them if there's no space.
-Purple and Black orbs are absorbed on contact
Corruption
-Changes an existing orb (except purple) into black.
-When used turns back into a random colored orb.
-Doesn't have a usage threshold. i.e if an action asks for 2 orbs and you have 1, you can still do it and use up just 1 orb.
Dissonance
-If orb storage is full, goes into "debt". When a free slot appears, it fills it up.
