""That"? Whats "That"?!" LOL. This is a thing One Piece does a lot which can be a bit frustratigng. Characters just saying "That" or "That Person" instead of just saying the damn thing or name 😭

Anyway, I'm sure I'll adjust to it eventually. I don't even dislike the voice per se, so much as it's just the furthest departure thus far from what I'm used to. (That, and I just really like Patrick Seitz.)

It does make more sense that his voice would be more high-pitched and quirky. Not to say that you have like it right away, just mentioning that fact.

2025-01-16 02:07:15 +0000 UTCI think the main disconnect for me is that Franky was very much designed to be a mashup of American stereotypes, and Oda has straight-up said he'd BE American if this world had real-life nationalities. So naturally I'm going to find the American-sounding voice more fitting for him. He was literally built for it.

First they lose their money and find out the Merry can't be fixed, then Usopp suddenly leaves the crew in a really terrible way that leaves everyone super sad and lost about what to do, Robin meanwhile disappears and Iceberg gets shot out of no where. The whole town who were initially nice to them immediately turn against them and there a bunch of super strong characters from different directions - Galley La and the Franky family who hate them. It just goes from so much fun to the crew getting trapped in a corner with everyone coming after them, and you see none of it coming. Oda is truly a genius. I love this arc so much! Ohh, and Aqua Laguna is coming...

Which I admit is kind of a problem for me, because the voice I associate with Franky is the VERY baritone Patrick Seitz (also known for voicing Dio Brando among others). In general, I've been pleasantly surprised at how easily I adapted to Japanese One Piece, but every now and then they throw a voice at me that takes a little more getting used to, and so far I'm not there yet. XD
