2024-11-07 21:03:37 +0000 UTCOh, yeah..... this episode...... This is a tough one. It's just Finn being an idiotic and hormonal teenager. He was turned on by FB beating up Ice King and he wanted to feel that again in his dreams... so he manipulated his girlfriend for his own satisfaction, and ended up not just screwing her... but also screwing up Ice King and his kingdom. He's 14, so we understand what he's going through..... but it is still not an excuse, just like how Flame Princess views him at the end.... he acted like a Big Baby this time, to the point that his words were incomprehensible to her.... because Finn doesn't fully understand what he did wrong and therefore... doesn't even understand why he is apologizing. Also... Jake didn't help at all, we get that he didn't have context of the situation, but that was a really bad advice from him. It sucks, because they made such a cute couple.... but Phoebe did the right choice, it was good that she decided to distance herself from Finn. It is harsh... but our boy needs to realize that actions like these have consequences.

It marked the beginning of what today is called "The Second Golden Age of Cartoon Network", because after Adventure Time released other incredible animated show started popping up as well.... such as Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball and Steven Universe. This whole boom of animation greatness and hype from audiences was also enhanced by the fact that.... before Adventure Time.... Cartoon Network was going through a sort of "Dark Age" in which they were producing more live-action shows instead of cartoons, because they were trying to recreate the success that Nickelodeon and Disney had with their own LA shows during the early 2000's. But yeah.... to put it simply.... Adventure Time was a Big Milestone for the animation industry, it's influence can still be felt in other animated shows that have been airing in recent times.

2024-11-07 16:56:27 +0000 UTCI have a lot of feelings about this episode which is what makes it stellar but I also kind of hate watching it lmao. I was young when I first saw it and I remember just feeling really uncomfortable because it was one of the more...."realistic" episodes. I mean Finn being a growing teenage boy who enjoyed watching his girlfriend fight things and having good dreams about it (with the very intentional area Flame princess was "burning") and doing immoral things to try and chase that feeling again is I think one of the best metaphors for well, being a hormonal teenage boy. I think it was such a smart way to write it. Of course, there are other interpretations, but this was always my takeaway. I think it's a really good episode but man for me it's always been an uncomfortable watch lmao!

2024-11-07 04:34:31 +0000 UTCSo essentially what was going on with the dream was that it's a metaphor for a wet dream/puberty, hence the "fire in finn's pants" thing. That's the reason why he wanted to repeat the fight, so he could get more of that dream

2024-11-07 04:32:24 +0000 UTCI also have that smirking or laughing in inappropriate situations reflex, got me in trouble a bunch when I was a kid. So many times I had to explain I didn't think the situation was funny, it was just a nervous reflex, but much of the time people didn't believe it and yes probably thought I was a little pyschopath.
