STEVEN UNIVERSE 5X13 "Your Mother and Mine" Full Length Reaction

It is always so interesting hearing and seeing how flashbacks are portrayed when Garnet is the one narrating, most of the characters are obscured and in silhouette form and she does most of the voices except for Ruby and Sapphire. I say it's interesting because every other flasback we have had in the series are always shown in full, with the normal art style of the show and all the characters with their respective voices (like when Greg is the one telling the story or when Steven and Connie were reading Buddy's Record), Garnet's flashbacks are the only ones where almost everything is shown like this. And i'd like the remind you... Bismuth (the one who created Rose's sword) has already confirmed that Rose's blade can slice and destroy a Gem's body... but never the Gem itself........ and yet everyone else keep saying that the weapon Rose use to shatter Pink Diamond was her sword which... doesn't make sense. Also... This is the first time we see in full how the Diamonds performed the attack that corrupted almost all the gems on Earth. We first saw this attack portrayed for the first time in the episode "Same Old World" from Season 3, and then we got a more detailed explanation from Centy in the episode "Monster Reunion" of the same season.

"I'm loving Lars right now!" -Words that many fans never expected they'd ever say XD No, but same though. I was equally as frustrated with him during the early show, and now it's like... I look back on his older episodes with a new sort of perspective. He's still a prick back then, but all of those episodes just kinda... peel back the layers on his insecurities, while simultaneously looping him into the world of Gems more and more, until suddenly those two worlds- human and gem- can't be separated for him any longer, and he's FORCED to make a change to stand up for others who are just as insecure in themselves as he is. Except this time, the bizarre nature of his very existence empowers him to actually Do something about it. I never thought I'd say it either back during the early show, but dang- I'm actually kinda proud of the guy. Garnet! It's always so lovely to get some Garnet time. I agree, she has some great voice work here. She's a great storyteller. I ADORE the storybook style animation we get in this episode, it's simplistic but very striking visually. And yes, at 7:55 you are absolutely right- we Haven't seen "that one in the center" yet. The show has not been coy about giving visual references to the existence of a fourth diamond if one knows where to look- but this is definitely the most blunt glimpse we've gotten of her up to this point. GAH, Padparadscha is so cute, I can't stand it! I love that moment where she tells Lars he's pressing the wrong button and it fixes the issue, ahahah. I love hearing your musing and theory brain activate here, ahah. I would be very interested in getting the updates on where your thoughts are leading in the outros of the coming episodes if you ever have any additional thoughts! Lovely reaction as always. Hope you have a nice evening.
