Ah, I forgot to comment on this one! Busy week ahah. I am so amused by the scene where Ruby and Steven are hollering and trying to get the door open (to no avail) and then Holly Blue comes back and blames the damage on the poor amethysts instead of them. What a pure chaos filled heist, lol. They’re trying so hard. Ugh, it’s so rough to have to watch Pearl be treated like a servant at best and an object at worst here, though. Like… we’ve known for a long while that this is what Homeworld sees of Pearl, but it’s another thing altogether to have to outright witness that in action. I am also fascinated by the way Holly Blue interacts with humans- they’re all clearly speaking the same language here (the show mentions a written Gem language, Gem Glyph- but never mentions any spoken language, so I don’t think there’s any universal translator thing going on here), thus Holly Blue HEARS what Steven is saying but overtly chooses to ignore him because she views his kind as inherently lesser. Mega oof.

2024-06-11 21:22:46 +0000 UTCFun Fact: in the first shot of the episode (and also when Steven is being transported to the containment part of the Zoo) you can see a "Red Eye" besides the Zoo, and in case you don't remember.... We have already seen another Red Eye before.... all the way back to episode 2 of the show "Laser Light Cannon", it is a machine created by Homeworld to detect the presence of Gems in certain areas. Which means that Peridot wasn't the first incursion to Earth sent by Homeworld. Holly Blue Agates seem to be Gems with Administration Positions... so they are above soldier Gems like Rubies, Amethysts and Jaspers... but Bellow Aristocratic Gems like Sapphire.... in terms of Hierarchy. Holly Blue Agate was voiced by Christine Pedi. She is a Broadway Actress, but has also worked in Television before SU.... she had a role in 2 episodes of The Sopranos, her character was called "Karen Baccalieri". It's a Zoo Mikey, the primary objective of a Zoo is to preserve/protect an animal species and also to display them for Human entertainment/admiration. So the Gems don't have a practical reason to keep the Humans in their Zoo beyond finding them fascinating creatures to observe and also to "maintain" Pink Diamond's memory. But i do see you came to that same conclusion right at the end xdd. Blue Agate is such a stuck-up... but her mannerisms and the way she switches from bossy to sweet always makes me laugh xddd
