2024-09-03 22:46:36 +0000 UTCAnother Fun Fact: In the beginning of this episode when Pearl is talking to Garnet about asking Steven and Amethyst what they're up to... Garnet responds "I can't". This is due to the fact that Garnet NEVER asks questions, which has been a consistent trait of her character since the very beginning. The fact that Garnet never asks questions is in reference to the episode "The Answer", when she properly met Rose and Pearl after escaping from Blue Diamond's Court, and Rose told her "No more questions, don't ever question this". And it appears she took that advice quite literally xddd. The only times we see Garnet making questions are during the same episode "The Answer" due the fact that she just began to exist at the time. And also one other time during the episode "Garnet's Universe" from Season 1... when she inquired Steven about his actions (this case was probably just Garnet being playful with Steven instead of her asking a genuine question).

2024-05-11 22:45:42 +0000 UTCFun fact: In case you didn't recognize it (or aren't familiar with it) that off-screen scream when Sardonyx throws the pencils is the "Wilhelm scream". It was recorded in the early 50s, added to a Warner Brothers sound effects library and used off and on through the 70s, but became famous (or maybe infamous) after the sound designer for the first Star Wars movie started using it as a signature effect. After that, it became something of a sound effects meme and started showing up everywhere... including here!

2024-05-11 22:26:04 +0000 UTCHAH, I absolutely knew you'd jive with the jazzy music in this episode! This one is such a delight to me- it's one of the eps I come back to for a casual watch when I need a good laugh. I adore Pearl and Garnet's intense happy reaction to a new fusion (and notably, Steven's first time fusing with one of them! They're so proud of their boy, ahhhh) and I loved getting to see Sardonyx again. What makes me kinda sad though is the bit towards the end of the episode where Sardonyx is all "there has to be some common thread between Steven and Amethyst that's heightened by their fusion... something they both think, something they both DO-" while Smoky is absolutely just putting themself down and being intensely pessimistic about their own worth :(( And... yeah. That really IS a characterization thread the two of them have in common, huh? We already saw this showcased in the "Steven Vs. Amethyst" episode, and while I think things have maybe gotten a little better since then, that type of negative self talk doesn't just go away overnight. Oof.

2024-05-11 06:41:00 +0000 UTCI don't know if this was mentioned at all, but Sugilite was voiced by Nicki Minaj, so when Sardonyx said "She's not REALLY in this episode, do we still have to pay her?", they were actually asking if they had to pay Nicki, and well with her celebrity status, she's quite expensive.
