ABILITIES

Legendary Resistance (1/Day). If Elidor Ashenhand fails a saving throw, he can choose to succeed instead.

Magic Resistance. Elidor Ashenhand has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Death Dealer. Attacks by Elidor Ashenhand score a Critical Hit on a roll of 19 or 20 on the d20. 

Wisp Familiars. Elidor Ashenhand is accompanied by 2 Will-o’-Wisps (MM’25 p333). These wisps act on Elidor Ashenhand’s initiative and use Elidor’s spell save for their Consume Life ability. If a wisp is destroyed, it reappears in 1 hour. 

ACTIONS

Multiattack. Elidor makes two Reaving Strike attacks. He can replace any attack with one use of Hand of Death or two uses of Spectral Arrow. 

Reaving Strike. Melee Attack Roll: +11 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 18 (4d4+8) Slashing damage. Upon scoring a critical hit or reducing a creature to 0 hit points, Elidor can drain the lifeforce from the target, healing himself or another creature within 60ft for the damage dealt by the attack. 

Ashen Grasp. Melee Attack Roll. +11 to hit, reach 5ft., one target. Hit: 9 (2d8) Necrotic damage. On a hit, the creature must make a DC19 Wisdom saving throw or be Paralyzed until the end of their next turn. 

Spectral Arrow. Ranged Attack Roll. +11 to hit, range 600ft., one target. Hit: 13 (1d10+8) Force damage. 

Spellcasting. Elidor Ashenhand casts one of the following spells, requiring no material components and using Wisdom as the Spellcasting ability. (Spell Save DC19).

At Will: Animal Friendship, Cure Wounds (Level 3 version), Entangle, Hunters Mark (Level 3 Version), Darkness, Pass Without Trace, Speak with Dead, Speak with Plants,

2/day each: Conjure Barrage (Level 5 version), Fear, Gaseous Form, Magic Circle, Nondetection, Aura of Life, Greater Invisibility, Hallucinatory Terrain, Conjure Elemental, Greater Restoration, Tree Stride, Wall of Stone

BONUS ACTIONS

Shadow Stalker. While in Dim-Light or Darkness, Elidor can take the Hide action as a Bonus Action.

Wall-o’-Wisps. (Recharge 5-6) Elidor creatures a 15ft. Emanation centered on himself, creating dozens of tiny wisps that flit around him for 1 minute. Creatures within this Emanation take an additional 8 (2d8) Lightning or Necrotic damage (chosen at the time of the attack). Additionally, hostile creatures in the Emanation treat the area as difficult terrain and have Disadvantage on Death Saving Throws. 

REACTIONS

Haunting Escape (Recharges after a Short or Long Rest). In response to taking damage, Elidor may use his reaction to disappear in a howling mass of darkness and teleport, along with any equipment he is wearing or carrying, up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space he can see. All enemies in a 15ft. Radius must make a DC19 Wisdom saving throw or take 21 (6d6) Psychic damage and become Frightened. On a successful save the creature takes half the damage and is not Frightened.

NOTES

Elidor Ashenhand is the Knight of the Autumn Court and High King Cernunnos’ mortal agent on the Prime Material plane. An air of mystery, and vague menace, surrounds Elidor due to stories of his past; Which is just how he likes it. In reality, Elidor mostly just wants to be left alone and does not trust easily. While his circle of friends is small, those who do end up in his good graces will find his hospitality and loyalty is nearly unmatched. 

Elidor’s position as the Knight of Autumn is a fairly recent appointment and something that shook many members of the court. It’s said that Cernunnos himself went and recruited Elidor, who had been living in the Freewylds for some time. There are many rumors about Elidor coming to be with the court, but the only thing most people know for certain is that he was once the Summer Knight.

For decades Elidor served as the Knight of the Summer Court under High Queen Titania and had a reputation as a fierce and noble warrior. While the official story is that Elidor retired from the position, many doubt that is the full truth, given the loss of a hand, his original family name, and the fact that he had disappeared into the Freewylds for years without being seen. 

Adding to his air of eerie mystery are Will-o’-Wisps that follow him and the ghostly, spectral hand that has replaced the one he lost. A gift from Cernunnos to go along with his new family name and title.
