Thank you so much, Pete! I agree on your complex carb approach. Omega 3 is also super important for inflammation! :)

Just brilliant Tommy, that was one of the best explanations of how to stay lean that I've heard. The only carbohydrates I eat are the complex carbs in vegetables and selected fruit. I like to focus on vegetables that are rich in the so called "sulfurophanes" found in broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage which I have every day for lunch. I manage to eat within a 9 hour window between 10 AM and 7PM which may not be ideal but comes close to your 8 hour limitation. Not a day goes by when I don't have between 8 and 9 hours of sleep, like you say it is vital for continued good health. The only animal product I eat is wild caught salmon because of their omega-3 fatty acids content that is said to have anti-inflammatory properties as well and heart healthy benefits. I used to eat farm raised salmon but I stopped doing that because of all the antibiotics they have to use to keep the animals alive in a confined growing space. Also the wildcaught salmon feed on a diet that includes plankton, small fish, and other marine organisms. This diet in the open ocean contributes to the accumulation of omega-3 fatty acids in the salmon much more so than the farm raised variety which don't benefit from such a diet.
