2025-09-30 21:14:09 +0000 UTCRebekah makes poor choices, I don't dispute that, but they are HER choices to make. That's the crux of the issue. Klaus doesn't allow her to make her own choices. He paints her into a corner, until she feels she has no other option but to make more drastic choices, like the fox chewing off its own leg to escape a steel trap. She's a grown-ass woman and should be allowed to make her own choices, jump into beds and enjoy herself, fall in and out of love. They were born in an era where women were property to the men, and I think Klaus retains too much of that era instead of progressing. Rebekah is NOT his property. She is her own person, and until he accepts that, this sorry cycle will continue for them. She is absolutely not blameless, and gods, she has made some bad choices, but if this were the Reddit of "Am I the Asshole," the answer would be they are ALL the asshole, even Elijah despite his honor. I had to pause the to comment this piece, and now I'll continue on because, true to what I was told in an earlier comment by other Patreon members, this series is getting really good again now that Celeste is gone.

2025-09-30 07:03:10 +0000 UTCIs it just me, or is Celeste lame? I don't know if I can explain what I'm feeling so that it makes sense. It's like everything is so melodramatic and grandiose, when it just boils down to pettiness. She feels like the caricature of a monologuing villain rather than a true threat. "I jump into body to body, ha-ha, I'm so awesome, and every time you see a young woman you'll wonder if it's me, nyah nyah." (paraphrased, of course) Does the character have justification for wanting vengeance? Absolutely. She's avenging her own death and Elijah's post-humous betrayal of her. But it all feels more petty to me than anything else, lame and overly complicated. Plus she's involved scores of people that have nothing to do with what happened to her, if you include all the women whose bodies she stole and then killed off, so any original justification she had is wiped out, AFAIC. I think the problem is more because of the writers than the actress, but I don't feel the actress is pulling it off either. I'm so over the Celeste storyline. My first time watching, and it's quite possible this is an unpopular opinion. I'm beginning to wonder why so much hype over this show. I was enjoying it until this Celeste plot started dragging it down, and now I'm just bored. I assume it gets better?
