Plus I mean Stefan came into her life when he knew she was drowning in grief and emotionally manipulated her to rely only on Stefan and think she is in love with him to keep her head above water. From my observation, over the year (1st 2 seasons) as she was finally starting to heal, she started to genuinely bond with Damon and really feel things that were not tied to needing a safety raft or by being manipulated and groomed.

Damon also sneaked into her room while she was asleep and was touching her face all creepily, murdered her brother, sexually and physically assaulted Caroline and sexually harassed Elena and forced himself on her. Stefan never lied to Elena about himself. He literally told her about himself in season 1, while Damon also told her some stuff too and the rest she read from his journals. Y'all always use that "Stefan pretends to be a good person/brother", like he's been lying to her about who he was/is and he never did. He just said he didn't want her to see him like that, not that he wasn't. Y'all act so clueless but turn a blind eye and deaf ear to what Damon does and says.
