If you look up the definitions of terms or origins of character names etc you'll realize how much research Arakawa (the manga artist) had done which I really appreciate. From research about the topic alchemy to war veterans interviews. Even when she used many things as a basis, she still created a fictional work that she clearly owns. I really like the storytelling too, there aren't really arcs. Just one big story where everything connects well.

People tend to dissapoint Hohenheim didnt spend much time with his sons. But actually, he did. At least with Alphonse. Before The Day of Reckoning. They spent quite some time in Liore

In the end, the Dwarf in the Flask was undone like most men…by their Greed.

Greed's death is so sad but incredibly done. The almost acoustic version of the epic theme playing under it gets me every time.

Hohenheim died because he used up his stone's energy over the years, and over the final fight, and as he said he was even splitting up his stone and scattering it all over the country to counter "Father.". Philosopher's stone is basically just a battery that lasts very long (like, very very long), so it's possible he was never truly immortal. Even the other homonculus could be killed if you killed them enough times, but Hohenheim's stone had way more souls/energy than the other homonculus, except maybe for Father.
