In Mandalorian, we saw โPhase 3โ dark trooper, which were purely droids. In legends (and by implication from Dr Pershingโs explanation), prior versions of Dark Troopers were exposures that needed a driver, Bad Batch and Rebels had purely droid Dark Troopers as well but were not named as Phase 3, so the development timeline is a bit fuzzy,
