Channel Update - June 2023 | Huge progress

How is it going, guys? As always, I have some fresh news for you.

Manhunt - Anti-piracy measures

This will definitely be the next video on my channel. The video is 70% done and I am super excited to show you this teaser.

This is the most sophisticated and will be the longest video on my channel. Instead of chilling and relaxing I was working on the video during this whole time almost every single day after the work. Can't say that I am very proud of that, but the result is there on that teaser.

During this all time me and Fire_Head were working very close together to make the video better. We found more interesting trivia to put in the video. For instance, we wasted some time to understand why the original CRACK crashes on Vista and higher. I mean the true story and not just "Well, this is because of DEP function in Vista and higher". The rabbit hole is more deeper than you think and it also involves the Steam version. As stupid as it sounds, I had to install 3 versions of Vista; SP0, SP1 and SP2 to check one theory.

Fire Head, also made more useful scripts. For instance, one anti-piracy measure initiates a memory leak. It means that the game will eventually crash. It is very hard for a video creator to show what is going on behind the code. You just eventually see the screen going black and that's it. To fix that issue, Fire_Head hacked the internal memory manager and now the game displays RAM usage on the screen. This is what you can see on that teaser too. You will see how fast the game clogs the memory and crashes. Super cool, because it doesn't need deep explanation, you just see it. Did you know that the game uses only 64MB of your RAM? I didn't.

Also prepared a lot of geeky stuff to read from a screen. Those who will be interested, can always pause the video. That stuff is not for everyone.

Around 20% of the video will be re-voiced including two anti-piracy measures to be rewritten. Just a typical situation when you can't predict or check everything while working on a script. Sometimes you notice something on the footage you just made.

If nothing goes wrong, you will see this video going LIVE during this summer (August probably).
