He does seem to have "maneuvered pieces" into place for solving each step: we saw he brought the seaweed case to Gaoshun, and after he saw (and put back) the pipe in the warehouse, we see Lihaku on site with Maomao commenting he's received a promotion (a promotion that we learned last episode may have been pushed by Lakan). Whether Lakan realised that this would essentially lead to Maomao being on both cases or not is maybe still uncertain.

2025-03-26 23:21:46 +0000 UTCok now that i knew youre done watching season 1, heres a few things about lakan. dont worry, the first time i watched this show, i also suspected lakan to be behind all of this, perhaps the show is misleading us to view him that way. he just fell into a situation that he cant control. hes actually an amazing guy and has a very important role in their country as a general that even the emperor himself dont want to mess with him. he figured out recent events and gave clues and hints by going to jinshi and requesting him to go uncover different events that ultimately led to maomao solving it.

I think the Blue Roses were posed as a challenge to Jinshi, like can you do this impossible task with the kind of power he knows he has. Which is why Lakan and others were so annoyed when Jinshi came through. Maomao took this challenge as a personal opportunity to set up something for Lakan finally, since he’s been after her all season. I also think there was no discussion between Lakan and Jinshi because one: we don’t know who all was involved. Asking or talking about it could alert other people; since his identity is supposed to be a secret, this has to be done very discreetly. And two: although Lakan says suspicious words that hint at the truth, he can’t just come outright and ask Jinshi about it either. All this dialogue and beating around the bush is about strategy and politics, and keeping things hush hush. Gotta remember we can’t be blunt about everything like we’re probably used to. Sure it’s frustrating, but I love that about this show too.

2025-03-26 17:16:00 +0000 UTCMy brother runs a landscaping business and for flower shows and such he would often need flowers to bloom that were out of season, they call it "forcing" them. He had a greenhouse and his wife was in charge of forcing the flowers. It's not a simple or foolproof process and takes a good amount of knowledge and luck. Likely why Maomao used so many flowers
