Onew actually covered Taeyeon's To X on Lee Mujin Service. I hope we'll get his duet with Taeyeon at some point—and then Minho too—so that the Taeyeon x SHINee collabs would be complete, haha. Yes, totally! Everyone in SHINee has their own distinctive musical preferences that are reflected in their solo work. They’re at a point in their careers where they can do whatever they please. It’s not that they take certain sonic aspects of SHINee for themselves, but rather, they all become SHINee when they come together. That said, I wouldn’t say any of the songs on this album couldn’t be done by SHINee. They’ve had plenty of slower songs and ballads—take the 1 and 1 repackage of 1 of 1, for example. It was mostly ballads, and it even started with three of them in a row. Moreover, funk and disco are some of the most distinctive elements of their sound. While Onew’s solo work might not be my ultimate favorite, I really do like all of them. I think Circle was a mature, solid body of work that I'd rate at least an 8.5, and Circle (O) is a masterpiece. Top 5 b-sides are Expectations, No Parachute, Anywhere, Walk With You and Paradise. My personal favorite EP of his is probably still Dice (his second EP), but he got even more involved in his most recent projects under Griffin—Flow and Connection—where he has writing credits on all the tracks. Onew’s biggest weapon is his voice, which brings comfort to so many people. He’s the OST and ballad king—vocally oriented songs are his bread and butter. Among the members, he tends to keep his production more minimalistic, often using fewer instruments. Many of his songs shine the most in live performances. However, I do agree that unless you can understand the lyrics of these types of songs, you might not be able to appreciate them to their fullest potential.

The Circle album is like a trip that transports you to such a meaningful place. The concert is spectacular when he sang these songs, you should see it someday. For me it is difficult to choose my 3 favorite songs on this album because each one has a meaning for me. But there is a song that I can't stop listening to, which is Uroko; Onew sang this song with Hata-kun, who owns the song. 2025-03-22 23:16:39 +0000 UTCCircle is a very special album because it is so good and not something that you expect from kpop but also because it was his last release during his hiatus so it was very dear to fans. Circle was both critical and commercial success. CIRCLE was named as Billboard Best album for 2023. It takes lot to make Gospel sounding song a title track by a main stream Kpop singer but onew did it in such a wonderful way. Onew's album are all very easy listen which focus on daily struggle and motivation. His album doesn't follow trends that is what makes him one of the BEST and reputed vocalist and you can't guess what sound he might bring next.
