Yep, both Taemin and Jonghyun said multiple times that they were the closest to each other in the group, they've known each other the longest. Taemin joined SM not long after Jonghyun did, and Jonghyun immediately decided to adopt the introverted dance prodigy he met and took him under his wing.

Out of all the members, Jonghyun was the closest to Taemin and had a big influence on him vocally. As someone mentioned under your previous reaction, Jonghyun sort of took Taemin under his wing in the beginning and helped him train. Because of that, they can sometimes even sound a little similar in technique and tone. I don’t have that problem, but I’ve seen numerous newer Shawols mistake Taemin for Jonghyun or vice versa in some SHINee songs. I believe Taemin also took over the majority of Jonghyun’s lines. Jonghyun wrote a few solo songs for Taemin - Pretty Boy and Already, and was known as Taemin’s "fan club president," lol. He always attended Taemin’s concerts whenever he could and playfully paid homage to some of his songs and choreographies, like Move during Jonghyun’s last concert tour. They were both very supportive of each other. And while all the members in SHINee are close, I’d say Taemin and Jonghyun had the strongest bond.
