Mini Dev Post - 001

Hello everyone, it has certainly been an interesting year.

And speaking of years, it has been almost one full year since I released the first version of Chapter 1.

That was way more time than I figured it would've taken for this Chapter, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't been able to work on it a lot during the year.

I'm sure many of you have very busy schedules, trying to balance a full time job with things like exercise or eating healthy (not shaming anyone who doesn't), so I think in a way many of you can sympathize with not being able to balance a project that takes hundreds and hundreds of hours to complete by yourself.

But there is some light to this situation. Those hundreds of hours become a foundation for the rest of the project. So there's no need to worry about certain features because they're already figured out and implemented. At this point in time, it's just concept design and implementation across a medium which is uniform down to its core.

Now how does this pertain to our project? This year was a pain in the ass because I was still trying to find the best way of doing things. During the time that I was making everything for this Chapter, the ideas behind them became clearer and clearer. For example, when I started the combat system, I was clueless as to where to start. Now that I've made it, I could make a better one in less or equal time, which I plan to do later. And because we have unique features like that one already developed and understood, making new Chapters for the most part is just minigames, dialogue, and cutscenes, give or take a few unique sprites.

That being said, the direction this game is going in is much more strong than it originally was. Many of you on Discord have been very helpful as to what you'd like to see and how you think I should go about doing it. So with that in mind, we need to focus on one thing right now: the release of Chapter 2. Pretty simple stuff, I know. But in a way, the mediocrity of my previous work made me a tad nervous to accept my original goals for Chapter 2. At this point in time, my main focus is to give what I originally intended in the quality that I intended at that point. Whether you guys love or hate it will become irrelevant at that point in time. (Although I heavily hope you love it. Haha) When the Chapter is released, we will focus on redesigning everything through (you guessed it) livestreams.

And speaking of livestreams, we will be doing a couple of short streams all week. They will all be announced at the time they start. They can range anywhere from 12PM-3AM EST and last anywhere from 2-4ish hours. Long streams tire me out, but streams also kick my ass into gear. I think I have a bad habit of moving too slow to see what's ahead of me, so by getting everyone involved I'm hoping we can pick up the pacing of this project and make something we've never seen before.

Last thing I want to cover is "Mini Dev Post". This is another thing I figured I'd do as a way of keeping everyone informed. As soon as Chapter 2 is released, $5+ patrons will be given access to Mini Dev Posts (name pending). After 5 or so of these posts, I'll make one big Dev Post with all the information they tell. The big Dev Posts will be public and released on things like DeviantArt, FurAffinity, and maybe Newgrounds. (Big thanks to Kyle Thompson for coming up with this system)

With all that being said, I guess watch out for some streams this week. Might do one today, even. Really hoping to release before we hit that ONE YEAR mark, so get your whips cracking. Haha. Time to get some coffee in me.
