2025-10-04 23:41:48 +0000 UTCYou guys really went through a rollercoaster of every emotion these 3 episodes!😂 (Sorry,🙏) this gonna be a long one… there’s so much that happened! Hate to be bearer of bad news, but Chainsaw Man is one of those stories like GOT, Walking Dead, or AOT where none of the characters are safe. Just a reminder, it’s a dark satire more along the lines of a dramedy. Being familiar with Fujimoto’s works, he often puts his characters through extremes, testing the waters of how they would react to traumatic situations. Although we are along the ride for a fun devil-hunting shonen story, it’s also a deeply psychological character study of Denji & his pursuit of “love”. Instead of portraying the pursuit of love idealistically, the concept is explored through struggle, misunderstandings, & the standards (or lack thereof) we set for ourselves in terms of self respect & self worth. Denji’s experiences are redefining his standards. The Katana Fiend, he was the guy in the restaurant. The picture of his grandpa he shows Denji is from ep1. They are the yakuza Denji worked for & then betrayed him when the grandpa turned into the Zombie Devil. Also, Kobeni coming to rescue at the end was epic! I think you guys missed it when Himeno described Kobeni’s potential at the hotel with the Eternity Devil. She is very talented, but lacks confidence. Our introduction to Kobeni caving in to her irrational fears against the Eternity Devil perfectly sets up the surprise when she shows her skills. Makima… what a terrifying woman. So many questions. How did she survive the gunshot to the head? What devil is she contracted with? How much DID she anticipate about the attack involving the Gun Devil? Heather keeps mentioning her eyes. I won’t say much, but I will say they’re intentionally unnatural. I like seeing your opinions about Makima. It makes watching your reaction to the series so much more interesting to me!😉

The final episode is absolutely incredible and leaves you with that awful pit-in-your-stomach feeling. Kobeni, as it turns out, does have a contract with a devil - she mentioned it during the dinner scene when everyone was introducing themselves, though she never said which one. After witnessing a friend die to protect her, she completely snapped - fear turned into fury - and we finally got to see what she’s truly capable of. Himeno was right when she said Kobeni was talented, just held back by her own timidness. And speaking of Himeno… that disappearance scene had me in a chokehold. What she said to Aki was so heartbreakingly raw - you could feel all her loneliness and her desperate wish to be loved deeply enough that someone would cry for her when she’s gone. Her death hit hard. But at least she managed to pull Denji’s cord one last time with her ghost hand in those final, haunting moments. Absolutely phenomenal episodes - chilling, emotional, unforgettable.
